Go and see how Prez Mahama of Ghana has transformed Gonjaland with Ghana money just within the two and half years that he has been in power. Every town, village and hamlet in Gonjaland has received a facelift with new facilities such as roads, toilet facilities, markets, mosques, good quality water projects, electricity extension projects, etc. The question is did J. J. Rawlings do the same thing to Voltarians when he was in power for twenty years? What about Atta Mills. The good old Prof was in power for three and a half years yet he was not selfish to only concentrate on his people in Ekumfi Etuam and the central Region but rather his whole thought was for the general good. No wonder under the care of Prez Mills, Ghana achieved a growth rate of 11%, single digit inflation and the smooth implementation of the Single Spine Pay Policy where newly recruited police personnel received the nominal equivalence of 500dollars as monthly salary. Compare these achievements to the nepotism and selfish policies of the Mahama government that has crippled the Ghanaian economy. I really weep for Ewes and Fantis whose votes brought Mahama to power and yet are the hardest hit by the current hardship prevailing in the country.

The Finance Minister has failed big time to stabilize Ghana's economy and currency for the past two/three years. He took over an economy that had single digit inflation but what is the rate of inflation now? He keeps on saying the medium term prospects of Ghana's economy are bright yet the short term reality is that the economy is in trouble with the cedi depreciating daily against major currencies. He does not even understand that with dumsor the economy cannot improve and keeps on promising a better tomorrow. That is a mirage and he ought to have been sacked but President Mahama is a weak leader who cannot take such decisive decision.

A finance minister plays a very similar role to a finance director. The economic drivers of any organisation or nation is under the control of those running operations and marketing.
The role of the finance minister is to safeguard assets and ensure the best value is obtained for all expenditure.
For instance, Kofi mentioned dumsor, the energy minister and president are those responsible for organising the projects for the finance minister to look for the funding.
With the depreciating cedi, our economy is import based, the president will have to come up with policies which drive exports to reverse the trend in the long term. This is surely outside the scope of the finance minister's duties. Most of the short term monetary policies are also under the governor of the bank of Ghana.
We need a good investment policy to drive the economy. All that should be initiated by the operational ministers such as transport, industry, even education and trade before the finance minister can weave his magic to fund those projects.

As we speak are we clear about our development plans? We know someone roads are being built, some one or two other projects are under way but do we have an idea of what the big picture is. Are we planning to industrialise? Are we tailoring our education system to run those industries. What are our short and medium term objectives. I know the ndc have an objective to win the next election but we need something more meaningful than that

In a country where corruption has been institutionalized as a cultural norm ,the likes of Terkper is certainly a threat to the corruption machinery particularly regarding the portfolio he holds.I am not surprised at the persistent determination by saboteurs to get him out of the finance ministry.When corrupt elements fail to draw you into their fold of nefarious illegalities they certainly find away of incriminating and persecuting you.It happened to Malam Issa then as sports minister in the erstwhile Kuffour Administration.Terkper's determination of standing up against corruption and financial malfeasance is what is making him a lot of enemies used to conniving and conspiring with corrupt elements at the finance ministry to fleece the country.The have been a paradigm shift with radical reforms at the finance ministry by his presence making organized theft usually by high profile civil servants and politicians extremely difficult.Terkper is the type of people we need in our public institutions to deal with rot and curb corruption.He is a principled and patriotic citizen who puts country above greedy parochial quest.In some institutions like the Ghana Health Service the Director General Dr Ebenezah Appiah Denkyira is targeting and sacking workers including doctors opposed to filthy corruption in that organization.The GHS is at least facing 3 cases at the high court because it conspired to illegally dismissed workers to cover up corruption and illegalities in favor of cronies.You can't immagine that the DG of GHS will conspire to falsely implicate and sack colleague doctors by claiming they suffered a mental illness just because they spoke against the death of a patient refused blood transfusion in Effia Nkwanta hospital because she could not pay a bribe of 50 ghana cedis.The DG instead of investigating the case was only interested in covering the corrupt MD of the hospital by victimizing the doctors following a media publication who actually accused the doctors of leaking the story to the media.The MD Dr Ntodi vowed to get the doctors sacked and succeeded by conspiring with the hierarchy of GHS to sack them. This country will go far if incorruptible,principled and patriotic persons of the caliber of Terkper were to head most Ministries,state institutions and organizations.The president had been spot on with his decision to maintain Terkper despite overwhelming pressure to dismiss him.His detractors are mainly the white collar criminals in public institutions who want him out to reopen avenues for organized looting and sharing at the expense of the hard tax payer.

Your citizens are crying,being taxed beyond proportion, their rivers are being poisoned etc.
Stamp out bribery and prune yourself and the system then you carve a name for yourself. Read history books .
Ghana don't need skyscraper buildings etc now. We want to produce our own tinned tomato , refine at least 40% of our crude oil here in Ghana to drive away these cheats called "marketers " . We need well paved feeder roads , agric. mechanization inputs built here etc.
Surely and stealthily build the country.
Last but not least is that never think Ghanaians are fools,the evils men do live after them!
