  Go and see how Prez Mahama of Ghana has transformed Gonjaland with Ghana money just within the two and half years that he has been in power. Every town, village and hamlet in Gonjaland has received a facelift with new facilities such as roads, toilet facilities, markets, mosques, good quality water projects, electricity extension projects, etc. The question is did J. J. Rawlings do the same thing to Voltarians when he was in power for twenty years? What about Atta Mills. The good old Prof was in power for three and a half years yet he was not selfish to only concentrate on his people in Ekumfi Etuam and the central Region but rather his whole thought was for the general good. No wonder under the care of Prez Mills, Ghana achieved a growth rate of 11%, single digit inflation and the smooth implementation of the Single Spine Pay Policy where newly recruited police personnel received the nominal equivalence of 500dollars as monthly salary. Compare these achievements to the nepotism and selfish policies of the Mahama government that has crippled the Ghanaian economy. I really weep for Ewes and Fantis whose votes brought Mahama to power and yet are the hardest hit by the current hardship prevailing in the country.

  Just by education we can eliminate sickle cell disease on earth. I am sickle positive, an SC and living an excellent life by God's grace.

  First,let me say,a disease is a disorder or function in any living thing,an abnormal genetic defect/disorder.Hence Sickle Cell is clasified as a disease.

  However,it's not a contagious disease.
  With education,we can eliminate the disease by having a simple blood test to determine if you or yor partner has Siskle Cell trait(AS).Its a genetic blood cell disorder that manifests itself only when two traits (AS)or carriers of full (SS)and (AS+SS)conceives.Proper medication can reduce the severity of Sickle Cell Crisis

  Indeed, through counselling, potential marital partners can opt to avoid producing SCD offspring. But that wouldn't be easy. It would really be hard to imagine one deciding to stop marrying the love of his or her life just because they could produce an SS child.
  
  On the medical front, a lot of progress is being made.
  
  One useful fact scientists are exploiting is that fetal hemoglobin cannot undergo sickling. In fact,it is well known that even an SS infant would not show the disease within the first two years. Rather unfortunately, after a couple of years, the body switches from producing fetal hemoglobin to the adult type. And that is where science is focused: how to prevent the body from making that switch.
  
  Already, some promising compounds have been discovered that force the body to switch back to producing fetal hemoglobin. This effect could be considered a sickle cell disease cure.
  
  EVOLUTIONARY PERSPECTIVES
  It is widely held in scientific circles that sickle cell hemoglobin might have evolved as an antidote to malaria. The malarial parasite has a hard time infecting sickled red blood cells.
  
  A similar theory is ascribed to hypertension, often the consequence of the kidney retaining sodium. It is believed the very hot climate our African ancestors experienced millions of years ago necessitated the evolution of kidneys that retained sodium, to prevent the profound loss through perspiration.

  imagine the only person u ever loved is AS (carrier)just like u, so u break up. u marry a diff partner only to have a child with a genetic defect far more serious than sickle cell. hmmm such is my world, strange!
