Abandoning our religion and culture is what is preventing Africa from progressing. How do you develop if you abandon your culture and adopt other people's religion and culture? It is not possible because you have lost your foundation, leaving you without confidence in yourself.

The Asians are forging ahead because they hold their religion sacrosanct. When a Christian priest or Muslim imam is praying to the white ancestors to intercede with God, do you think the white ancestors will bring those blessings here? Certainly NO! They will send the blessings to their dhildren's children in the white men's country.

Don't you agree that Ghana has been under a curse since the late Prof Mills abolished the pouring of libation? I hope Nana Addo will reintroduce it.

What will happen in Ghana if each of the about 100 ethnic groups has to strictly adhere to and enforce their traditional norms and culture? For real, some traditional chiefs don't know what time it is. Ghana is a multicultural state and no single tribe can impose their will on others. Some groups in Ghana used to bury their chiefs with human beings,but that tradition cannot be performed today in Ghana.The fact that some Ga elders in the 19th Century - in their ignorance and superstition - prohibited their kinsmen from making noise(so as not to disturb some real or unreal gods),folks living in Accra today,should obey this "edict",is not only ridiculous but also ignorant.

Most people living in Ghana today came from somewhere hundreds,if not thousands of years ago.Infact,Gas came to inhabit their present abode from NIGERIA.Should the Akwapims and other Akans who welcomed them tell the Ga chiefs and their kinsfolk,to pack up and go back to Nigeria?

Ghanaians are ruled by a constitution and can move and live anywhere they choose . Are there not Gas living in Kumasi,Cape Coast,Tamale,Takoradi and other towns and villages away from Acrra? By the way all these towns are owned by GHANAIANS - not by particular ethnic groups.

This nonsense,un-Ghanaian foolishness and ethnocentricity - makes it more imperative that we all reassess the relevance of chieftaincy in today's Ghana.

This has nothing to do with customs. The two boxers are themselves Gas and have equally ridiculed the Ga chiefs' attempt to the boxing match with the floods. Their question is if their actions offended the gods, why don't the gods punish them and their families instead the innocent victims who suffered in that incident. The idea that for one not to obey the norms of every cultural demands does harm to a progressive upward trend of any nation is absolutely absurd in our modern times. I believe in order to avoid such cultural wars, the good people must have a political will to demand a new and neutral grounds to develop and build a new and modern capital. The question becomes where is such huge sums of money will come from? Well, we don't really have beg IMF or any developed nations for funds. Ghana is now blessed with OIL. Please, to our political leaders, let us have a national conversation on this proposal by agreeing to set aside percentage of the OIL revenue for a least 10 to 15 years by investing such funds in an appropriate MONEY MARKET or any other investment out there in World Market. It is only then We The People of Ghana can develop a meaningful modern CAPITAL. Please, I hate to suggest this, but for the first time let's copy and learn from our good neighbor Nigeria. Let us respect the GA CULTURAL stipulations by removing the CAPITAL of GHANA to a NEUTRAL GROUNDS. Thank you very, very much the GOOD PEOPLE OF GHANA.

If it had not been for Ghanaians from other parts of the country who brought visible progress and development to Accra, the few Gas who are now living in decent houses in decent areas would still be huddled together in diabolically insanitary conditions in places like Jamestown, Abola, Sempe, Amaamo, Chorkor, Korle Gonno, Lavender Hill, La, Teshie, Nungua etc, in their 'mothers houses' where 22 other brothers, sisters, aunties, mothers, fathers, uncles and their wives and husbands and children take turns to live in one 8x6 room whilst the rest take a breather on the pavements or in the nearest 'agba'.

Worse-still, if those mentally retarded clowns from the Ga Traditional Council continue to talk nonsense, we (including sensible Gas) shall just simply persuade the Fantis to demand or take back the land that they temporarily gave to the then immigrant Gas, back from them to settle this matter.

The Gas can then also pack bag and baggage and go back to Togo, Benin, Agege, Calabar, Chad, Congo, Sudan, Ethiopia, Egypt, Israel and wherever else in the world that they claim they come from. In fact we shall ask for the birth certificates or other documents of their great-grandfathers and those who cannot prove that their forefathers were originally from this space of Ghana, will be politely asked to find the exit-door out of Ghana.

If the Ga Chiefs truly had Gods who they need to appease and deify, they would not be making such a mockery and a farce of themselves and by extension, to their much abused Gods. The way Ga people - especially the Chiefs, undermine themselves, cheat themselves and the general public at large and live irresponsibly in the most squalid conditions, I wonder if their own Gods have not already abandoned them by now to save themselves from the comprehensive disgrace and embarrassment that Gas have brought upon themselves.

So supposing non-Gas decided to leave the Accra area, would these silly chiefs and dumb-ass traditional authorities who sold land to non-Gas, be able to reimburse the cost of the lands, at current market prices, not to mention the cost of the properties built on them, back to the non-Gas who want to leave Accra? Not on your life. They have spent all the money - which could probably amount to an excess of over $50 billion over the last 50 years alone, on akpeteshie, strings of concubines, luxury cars, countless children of school-going age who do not go to school, endless litigation and massive court fines for criminal multiple-sales of lands.

This sad story has left the native people of Accra landless and with no property, no education, no dignity, no self-respect, no enlightenment nor even the basic confidence needed to face the big upwardly mobile business conglomerates and the bright colorful shiny lights and giant video-boards of Accra-life at night. It may surprise readers to know that many Gas from many of the afore-mentioned aeas do not venture to places like Accra Mall, the airport area, East Legon, the main Osu Oxford street etc because such areas are too intimidating for them.

Ga Chiefs may or may not be aware of the fact they are an isolated minority - an endangered species whose dwindling constituency have no meaningful support at all - least of all from the growing number of Gas who are beginning to get totally disenchanted and frustrated with the fraud that is being perpetrated on the people of Accra by these same selfish, mean and corrupt Ga Chiefs.

In recent times, mobs of disenchanted Ga youth have ether randomly arrogated to themselves chieftaincy titles at will in defiance of existing order or, they have publicly destooled senior Ga Chiefs and replaced them with their own choices.

If these nasty developments dont hint Ga Chiefs of doomsday in the making and to turn a new leaf and start thinking straight, they will get what they deserve from their own Ga people and to the applause and support of all other Ghanaians.

No one in Ghana including President Mahama can prevent a Ghanaian from entering and or living any territory of Ghana without due process. The Ga Traditional Council has no powers or authority to bar any citizen from Ga land because of any violation of Ga traditions and customs. They must first subject the person/s to due process.

I don't think he was in anyway imposing his authority on anyone in his comment. Often at times we see people come up on this site and talk trash about Gas because they built houses and business in Accra. I personally think people like Kennedy Agyapong should have been barred from Accra for the killing of Gas comments he made. Overall, Gas have been very tolerant people and I commend them.

The CONSTITUTION is the supreme law of the land. The Ga chiefs and other chiefs should know clearly that their CUSTOMS AND TRADITIONS do not supersede the laws of the land. Ghana is now a republic state and all those colonial rules are gone with the pre-independence days. They should bear in mind; if they do any thing that goes contrary to the laws of GHANA they will be brought before the law court. We have laws against noise making but that law is not reserved for Ga chiefs, where were they when generators make noise, air planes making noise, vehicles blowing their horns. Taxes are paid to the government and not chiefs, this should tell them that they don't have powers. Chieftancy in my opinion is not democratic and its succession follows a particular family line. They should give us a break.

One could imagine what Accra would have looked like when you take James Town, Chorkor, Labadi, osu, Nungua etc. It's a real SHIT HOLE indeed! That's why i am suggesting that independence day celebrations should be rotated throughout all the 10 regions of Ghana. Money should be given so that each region can have a bite at our money that is constantly invested in Accra. Let us see the beauty of other regions as well. That way people will live in their towns and city and leave Gas to their outmoded traditions and foolish rites!

Accra is the land of the indigenous Ga people, whether it is leased for a hundred years or less, and at any given time they can reclaim their lands legally or by force. Non-Gas outnumber Gas in Accra and most of the wealth in Accra is generated and owned by non-Gas. So my friends get over it, you lost Accra a long time ago.

The elders of Ga Traditional Council have lost their minds. For them to say to other non-Ga Ghanaians living in Accra to leave Accra if they can't abide by Gas' customs is stupid and sheer nonsense. These elders should open their clogged minds and be told that, Accra, by virtue of it being the capital of Ghana or the seat of the Government of Ghana belongs to all Ghanaians and that they have no legal basis or traditional authority to impose their customs on anyone who lives in Accra but refuses to abide by their customs. For example, the traditional Homowo festival is to me a one great celebration in Accra, unfortunately, not everyone who lives in Accra celebrates the festival. It is mostly a traditional festival for Ga citizens and as such, they are the ones who celebrate it. Also, a traditional enstoolment of a new Ga Manche is usually deemed cause for celebration in the whole of Accra, sadly, not everyone even including Gas in certain traditional areas within Accra do participate in the celebration. The Council should accept the fact and be enlightened to understand that its not everyone who lives in Accra a Ga and that peoples allegiance to the Ga customs should not be used as grounds to qualify a non-Ga the right to live in Accra. After all, Accra is Ghana's capital city and it belongs to all Ghanaians for Christ sake, and that every Ghanaian has every right to make Accra his/her home if he/she decides to, irrespective of what the Ga State Council and its elders say.

Due to the DUMSOR, members of the Council were all using noisy generators and that angered the gods, not the dumsor vigil which was carried out some few hours within a night.
