In an ALL AFRICA interview with the former president Kufour, he said when the time came to discuss the terms with the Anglo America, they had refused to all their terms on the money side so they tabled the name to be change and on that the white man agreed to change Anglo America to Ashanti gold.

Any way Kufour was able to secure a job for his son to be on the board of Ashanti gold.
That's one man's greed in exchange for what might be good for all.

We lost out on our land and mineral resources to foreign-owned companies because when it comes to money poor nations, in particular African nations are more likely to sell their mothers to make a buck to abuse and misuse.

Depreciation of the cedi, despite the propaganda by the NPP is not of President Mahama's making but the makings of a rotten approach to government and governance we acquired since 1966. In the USA, Canada, Western European nations, China, Russia and other Asia Pacific nations, there are certain aspects of industries they do not and cannot sell in the interest of national security, symbol and or economic independence. In Ghana we have fools the likes of an NPP and NDC administrations that sells out from underneath Ghana a host of assets including the entire telecommunications infrastructure at a time when technology is used by powerful nations to eavesdrop on decision making of nations. How could these boneheaded decisions bring added value to the cedi when the true value/worth of a currency are not measured only on the merits of GDP; China and other nations manipulate the value of currency and not of GDP. We do not have tangibles to shore up our currency and must rely on the intangibles which include the prospects of owning our mineral and land rights in perpetuity which we cannot any longer.
