The president has overstepped his perfunctory powers and appointed the EC chairperson, which we believe is ultra vires.

The president has no right under the constitution to appoint EC chairperson and its members. His powers under the constitution in this regard are perfunctory and not substantive like appointing his own ministers. His appointment of the lady is, therefore, ultra vires because the president is a leading political player and does not have substantive powers under the constitution to appoint a political referee who is supposed to be independent and impartial in the discharge of his/her duties. In fact, the appointment is against the letter and spirit of the constitution. Our constitution does not seek to give undue advantage to one political player over all the other players, and the real meaning of the word "advice" must be understood in its constitutional context.

i will always go for a credible exams conducted on the grounds of fairness. I thereby support the national security taking over,but are we sure the papers will never leak again? Hmmm. I doubt though.

13 years ago my son had to resit some BECE papers because of alleged leakage. How come every year we seem to have the same problem recurring without the examining Body finding a solution to it? It is disgraceful and we should bow down our heads in shame. This and other lapses have reduced our education system to a JOKE to the extent that our qualifications are not being given the high recognition we earned in the past.
Ghana's education standard was held very highly among nations, but now our standards have become a shame onto we the citizens.
The knee jerk solutions must stop and a permanent one found.
