The Destruction of Black Civilization is a powerful book, and should be featured in Black schools around the world. The author basically reveals a history that has largely been covered up. When I was in school, the only thing they taught us is that we were slaves and that is it. Of course, this is a form of mind control designed to create a "slave mentality" among Blacks, and it has been highly successful. Blacks who read the true history of our people will realize that while Europeans were dying of the Bubonic plague(due to a lack of proper hygiene), Africans had built one of the world's first universities and one of the most advanced civilizations in the world, equal to what was produced by the Mayans, Aztecs, and Inca.

However, this book is more than just a book on Ancient African civilization. It is a book which explains the strengths and the weaknesses of the Blacks, and the author is highly objective, explaining how Blacks often hurt themselves in addition to the onslaught of Arab and later European domination. The author shows that, without a doubt, the original builders of the pyramids in both Nubia and Egypt were Black Africans, not Europeans, Arabs, or other Semitic peoples.

My problem with this book is the numerous grammar mistakes I found throughout. While it is normal for some books to have a few grammar errors, this book has more than it should have, and that hurts it a lot. They need to get an editor to fix these mistakes and publish a new edition to the book. However, I checked everything the author talked about and his research is dead on, he mentions African people and civilizations that I didn't even know existed.

Another criticism I have of this book is the plan that the author offers for the Black race in the last few chapters. While I commend him for developing it, this plan in my opinion is not completely feasible, and a completely separate book should have been written for it. He attacks the many Black organizations in the U.S., comparing them to the many different tribes of Africa that were conquered by Europeans because they failed to unite. He also attacks Black Capitalists, a mistake in my opinion.

First off, a lack of Black Capitalists in the world is one reason the race has fallen behind. Out of the world's 1,000 billionaires, only about five or less are of African descent. Most of the world's millionaires and multi-millionaire's are not Black. As long as non-Black people control most of the world's wealth and resources, the Blacks will continue to suffer.

Chancellor Williams believed that "both capitalism and communism are flawed because they only enrich a handful at the top at the expense of the many." He is right about communism, because not too many years after this book was published, the Berlin Wall fell. But he is dead wrong about capitalism, history has shown that this system works, it is why America became the most powerful nation on Earth. The capitalism that he is referring to in the book is not "true" capitalism, but corporatism, which is rule by the corporations, for the corporations. Any African nation that provides property rights for its people, while allowing them to engage in true capitalism, which is open trade and competition(within the rules of law), will become a highly powerful and competitive nations, equal to Japan or the U.S.

Blacks must follow the path set by the Jews and Japanese, which is to emphasize money, business, technology, and education above all else. Both the Jews and Japanese succeeded because they formed tight knit groups, working together as a team and blocking outsiders. Most Whites today are still surprised that they are not allowed in some clubs and restaurants in Japan, but it is this Japanese suspicion of foreigners that prevented them from falling victim to the same tragedy that befell Blacks and Native Americans.

Blacks fail as a group because they don't understand money. The Jews understand money. The Japanese understand money as well. Both the Japanese and Jews are known for their frugality, saving their money instead of buying all the products sold by everyone else, and then they turn around and use their savings as capital to start businesses of their own and acquire assets. This, in a nutshell, is how the Japanese and Jews built wealth. Blacks, on the other hand, which Williams shows in the book, spend much of their money buying the products made by their enemies, and then wonder why they are not advancing. Most Blacks today don't know the difference between assets and liabilities, good debt and bad debt, and the many financial ways in which they are kept in economic bondage.

The author also says that "Blacks are a very religious and spiritual people," and I agree. That is also our greatest weakness. Had the Africans been united under one empire and language when the Europeans showed up, and had more interest in trade than religion, it would have been impossible for either them or Arabs to conquer Africa. Again, if Blacks are to thrive in the 21st century and beyond, we need to emphasize money, technology, and business, because in this world, that is all that matters

How do you expect an elected Executive President to sit down for an unelected and unaccountable body with simple advisory role that is not binding on the President or Ministers to make such an important executive decision for the President to just follow? Does that make sense?

Can you stop pasting Prof Asare's article whenever I post article on this subject? I read the article and have discussions with him from time to time on this matter. If he wants to repsot the article on Ghanaweb he will do

Mr. Kofi, do you really believe that the framers of the 1992 constitution meant to give undue advantage to the president who is also a leading political player to substantively appoint a political referee? If you are confused with the letter of Article 70(2), you shouldn't be confused with the spirit of the Article.

You have another mixed up in your mind, and that is the difference between presidential and parliamentary systems. Separation of powers is normally more stringent in presidential systems than it is in parliamentary systems. And as we said earlier, the president's appointment powers in this regard are perfunctory because the position is for the provision of impartial and independent services to all stakeholders in Ghana and not for a particular administration. Moreover, the framers were not stupid to give undue advantage to one particular political player over all the rest, and that's why they put those checks and balances in the appointment of the EC Chairperson and its members.

Do they even think of Ghana at all? While I agree that parliament should vet the candidate, similar treatment meted out to the Chief Justice should go to the chair person of the EC.

Less than 20 percent of athletes will become champions. There is no getting around this law. In both Communism and Socialism, a tiny elite still existed which controlled the majority of the wealth and power. Just look at Stalin, Mao, Kim Jung II, and the many African communist dictators. Gaddafi proclaimed to be socialist in his book yet he had a net worth of $200 billion.

Capitalism has never been the problem. The problem is that Blacks simply refuse to compete in Capitalism. Capitalism is a system that rewards groups like the Jews, Japanese, and Indians who know how to work together, buy and sell from each other, and keep money in their community. Blacks, both in America and in other parts of the world, have historically refused to buy a sell from each other on a large scale. A Black businessman in Philadelphia tried to start a Black run grocery store, only to have Blacks not shop there, but they robbed the place six times.

Blacks have deteriorated even more. Dr. Claud Anderson says Black are becoming a permanent underclass, and with a 20 percent unemployment and 42 percent incarceration rate I agree. Black simply refuse to do what it takes to compete in Capitalism to get their slice of the pie, and as a result they continue to remain the most poverty stricken group in the world

Honourable dissenting members ,it will be wise to rally behind this Noble Lady in quest to tackle the insurmountable task ahead only a few months to a Serious general Elections. Folks please remember also that the Honourable EC 's experience transcends Kuffour 's Era and she also attracts support from both sides of the major Polotical Spectrum.

Right,there are more at stake but they are right,it is not what you think,whether she is highly qualified in your opinion or not they have the right to say we need amendment to the constitution,check in your USA,the person incharge of election in your state and others is Secretary of State who is an elected official be he Democrat or Republican,they believe in the country first.
The only problem is that Ghana's parliament is not strong enough,they don't have the balls to reject any nominee unless it goes to two thirds majority but the way it is now it is waste of time vetting anybody in that house,vetting is just photo opportunity for them to be on TV.

The final decision came from the Supreme Court by 5 to 4 votes on Party lines .Did that mean the over 200 yrs old Constitution had to be Ammended to effect future election outcome ? No. Ghana is a young Democracy with several Constitutional changes since Independence , so patience and Civic Education is what will be needed to reach your goal congruence.

Nowhere in the constitution is it stated that, at the time of selecting the EC boss if there is a court filing or order the president should suspend the process of selection. In that case, then MPs will be running the country and the president will sit down and do nothing. We need the checks and balances.

Today , where was Nitiwul in 2004 elections ? If not a member of parliament then, he was an activist, when Kuffour in 1998/99 promised amendments to the constitution. Did he do them ? NAH because it suited them perfectly. Unfortunately today it doesn't suit him and his party. However, it suits the gender positive affirmation and I will be happy if he will only shut up and enjoy the ride.

I think there is no need for the parliament to approve bcoz is still going to be d same as the majority will decide. Which means Npp or Ndc will stil decide base on their interest coz d majority will always be one of dem.

If we’ve reached a point in our daily lives in Ghana where our new born constitution has to be amended then why not throw the damn thing out and start from scratch? I know some in politics are shaking in their boots with the very thought of rewriting our constitution that could takes away their current exemptions from prosecution and all the stealing that has ensued but that’s just tough luck. Yes let's rewrite the entire constitution not amend the portions that does not sit well with ruling governments and or parties.
