I signed a contract before starting work and that is what the Govt. of Ghana ought to be doing to avoid these kind of situations. So do not blame the doctors but rather lay the blame on the Govt.

Now, and after sinking the boat and wrecking it completely, you have the audacity to say: "help the government maintain fiscal discipline as the country goes through the (IMF) programme". Doctors should be made to sign an agreement not ever to go on strike before being employed by the Ministry. The Ministry employs doctors as individuals band should stop negotiating with the GMA

They can not speak good English and some of our people who use these hospitals do not speak English either. How are they going to communicate. When the President tried to reduce the levels of allowances of MPs and others in Govt in 2013, it was vigorously kicked against by MPs from both sides of the divide who then proceeded to propose unrealistic amounts for themselves and approve same for the Executive. These figures as well as those for End of Services were published for all Ghanaians to see and despite several protestations from other sector workers, Parliament stuck to its guns and President Mahama was forced to implement the Prof Ewurama Addy's recommendations. This kicked started the state of labour agitations till now. We all know how difficult to study and becaome a qualified Doctor in this country, and we need to do a realistic comparison between the work of Doctors and Members of Parliament and see if the MPs deserve to earn several times the amount Doctors are getting. which is why some Medical Doctors are abandoning their jobs and taking to politics while others are forced to engage in unethical practices just to survive. why are politicians taking all the money in the nation's kitty?

Well honestly these damned doctors are getting too big for the the economy of Mother Ghana.They report for work late some work terribly hard but others agitate for strike.Doctors,and public sector workers have a Divine Right to embark on strikes until their Kingdom comes, their respective management also have a Divine and Democratic Right not to pay them for the duration of their strike .In short the Government does not reward the self employed who decides not to go to work.There must be fundamental change how public sector workers are treated in Ghana.Perhaps it's time the political parties meet and discuss this cancer and arrive at consensus & then implement this in their manifestos for the 2016 election.GHANA IS TIRED OF BEING BLED & HELD TO RANSOM BY THESE PUBLIC SERVANTS.
