Are we not tired of committees and taskforces and now environmental policemen? This is another wasteful spending. We have more than enough institutions to monitor our environment and prosecute those that abuse it.

We don't need any environmental police when the environmetal health department of the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development has the trained men and women who are more than capable of doing what the minister is talking about. All they need is the resources and the support as well as non interferance to do thier work. Creating environmental police or whatever name they are given is only another job for vthe boys and a further waste of the tax payers money.

Rather set Community Environmental Committees to spearhead environmental and sanitation issues. Preventative approach instead of a punitive strategy.

We also need another police force to enforce by-laws. The Ghana police service is an incompetent, feeble and impotent institution. Citizens flaunt the law right smack under their noses, and they just stare at them sheepishly. Their only responsibility is to stop easy and beg for alms at night check-points. prey motorists
