Before the white man and his white wash christianity got into Ghana, we believed in ourselves and we could leave our doors opened and no one would break in in to our homes.
Then came a needy,poor and resourceless Europeans who came looking for what we took for granted. They gave us a watered down education and a spirituality that is opposite to ours to wait on a god we have no relation to and a heart to forgive them when they killed and robbed us.
In the end, we got their poverty that made us to lose our integrity and became notorious liars. His education got us more paper degrees but with no practical know-how to even save rain water for our hospitals.
And besides all these, the church and the bishops the white man left behind could NOT figured out that their continuing faulting our traditional value systems and giving them a bad name is what is making us lose our humanness.
Show me a good man, and I will show you that he/she owes it to his good upbringing from a good home based on a good Ghanaian/African values and NOT his church believe system.

THE CHURCH HAS NO MORAL VALUES TO IMPACT ON US BUT OUR TRADITIONAL VALUES HAVE.

You wear a european cloths to church,and preach in european language facing a white european deity made up to be called jesus and believed to remained an African that will believe in him/herself?
That is delusional .

If Moderator Martey is truly against LGBT and he has been preaching against them, let his deeds show. The Supreme Court decision should bring the best out of Martey. He should stop going to USA.

Moderator Martey says he and his church will cease to have anything to do with PCUSA yet he is benefiting from the PCUSA. Rev. Herbert Oppong is studying at Columbia University and PCUSA seminary on PCUSA scholarship. Rev Dr. Azuma is teaching at Columbia University, a PCUSA seminary and Azuma has started directing Ghanaian Presbyterians associated to PCUSA who goes to study at Columbia to leave their PCUSA church to join Martey’s Presbyterian churches in USA. It is our understanding that Rev. Kwapong, the Presbytery chairman of Akuapem Presbytery is on his way to study at Princeton University, another PCUSA seminary on PCUSA scholarship. Moderator Martey, if you are a Man of God and you are acting as such, then this behavior is unchristian. Withdraw all your people from PCUSA seminaries.

Most important, the Supreme Court of the land of USA has made same sex marriage legal in all the states in the USA. Why has Moderator Martey not come out strongly to condemn the Supreme Court of USA and the people of USA? For Moderator Martey’s position on this issue, and if he does not want to do anything with PCUSA, then Moderator Martey should be bold and condemn USA and surrender whatever visa he has to enter the USA and stop going USA. He should also stop ALL his pastors from travelling to USA but not the few who are affiliated to Ghanaian PCUSA churches from travelling to USA.

Lately what Moderator Martey’s pastors, like Rev. Nana Ntim Gyakari, are doing in the USA is preaching just as Moderator speaks against same sex marriage and Ghanaian Presbyterian Churches associated with PCUSA as soon as they see a member of PCUSA church affiliation in their midst.
I hope that the Consular of USA in Ghana is hearing this and would Withdraw visas of all PCG pastors in USA and stop Moderator, the Clerk of General assembly, Rev. Kwapong and the rest from entering the USA. The Consular should also withdraw the visas of all PCG pastors with PCG churches in USA.
Finally, with the Supreme Courts ruling, Moderator Martey and his “holy thou art” people have no place nor business in the USA. Moderator should call all his people from USA back to Ghana to start a “holy city” at Abokobi for the “holy Presbyterian’s.”

From your comment and many others above one gets the impression that many Ghanaians don't even seem to recognize how sick Ghana has become. He is only one through Christ. He must check through the and tell me where anybody was baptised in the name of the father, the son and the holy spirit. After Matthew 28, Jesus asked the disciples to go and wait in Jerusalem for the holy spirit to come and give them the exact meaning of the command he had given them.Then the disciples went about and baptised everyone in Jesus's name throughout the bible.

The church led by lazy pastors who are fed by the poor telling them to give to the church and suffer on earth for they will enjoy in heaven when they meet thier maker after death.
The church must stop speaking as they are preaching to the fools who still buy into thier lies to feed them. The church in Africa and for that matter in Ghana must cure itself first to be able to cure society.
Everybody who has eyes to see k ow the the church is and has been the most curropt institution in the country.
When the church can accept offerings from it's members without asking where they get the money from breds the ills in society because the church rewards the person who gives much the high place in the church.

Yes, Ghana is sick because our Clergy, too, has failed to provide the cure for our moral and spiritual malaises.

All the Clergy has been doing is blaming the Government for our problems, especially, economic. They often criticize our situation with half of their mouths, forgetting that majority of the perpetrators of the ills that afflict us socially and economically are prominent members of their congregations.

If the Clergy means business, its entire membership should take up the challenge to instill greater morals in their congregations, and deter their Church members with public denunciation, and exposition.

Right now, the whining from the 'Holy Men and Women' suggests more of their disappointment with the loss of offertories and tithes than anything else. We have been living in abject poverty and enduring, say, poor infrastructure for so long without the Clergy saying a word about those situations. But then, when a disaster like the June 3rd Flood and its associated accidents happen, there we hear the Clergy being at its loudest blaming the Government for that. Any other time the Clergy complains, it would not be on the lack of proper modern drainage, or shortage of decent waste water management facilities in the towns and Cities but on Schools and their poor performance because it is in that area that the Clergy could locate their most immediate financial interests.

They hardly talk about the rudimentary family shortages that, say, impinge negatively on the learning abilities of the Children. Rather, they would be calling on the Government to give back to them the Schools for them to manage. Possibly, with brutal out-of-date disciplinary measures as was in the Colonial Days to forcibly drive Children to memorize and pour to pass their Exams with higher scores.

The Churches must, more than ever before, emphasize the good dictates of the Gospel, and the good parts of the Koran, to demand higher morals of their members. Then, they can follow up to expose persistently amoral members whose activities in Politics and the Society cause the people and the Nation stagnation in poverty. The Clergy ought to concentrate on demanding for the communities better infrastructure, and help teach their members proper financial management and responsibilities to the society we live in.

That is what Ghana needs now to heal its hydra-headed malaise. If they need a lead, they should closely follow the current Pope of the Catholic Church, Pope Francis.

Your positive, practical and constructive contributions would go a long way. Talking and pointing fingers is cheap, moderator. Just learn to serve the people. Honesty, humility, accountability, self-discipline, respect for other differences etc are some of the key areas of concern.

ARE WE EDUCATED TO SIT,WATCH,CRITICISE,PREACH, WATCH AND PRAY.

IN THE HOLY SCRIPTURES WE LEARN ABOUT THE PARABLE OF THE TALENT AND WE ARE FURTHER TOÖLD THAT-WE CANNOT EXPECT MANNER TO FALL FROM HEAVEN.

AM I RIGHT IN THE TEACHINGS CONTAINED IN THE BIBLE.

IT IS TIME WE KNOW WHERE WE ARE AND WHY THE EDUCATED HAVE FAILED THE THE LESS FORTUNATE AND THE DISADVANTAGED.

HOW LONG SHOULD THE GOVERNMENT CONTINUE TO CATER FOR THE NOISY EDUCATED PEOPLE IN THE COUNTRY.

THIS IS TOTALLY WRONG AND WRONG AND NEVER WILL THESE EXCUSES TRASFORM THE NATION TO PROSPERITY.

Someone said before the white man came we were able to do this or that. That's fine but this same people don't go back walking where ever they go or use the 'toma' that was wrapped around their loins and in between their legs.
Christianity may have its flaws by the world's standard but it is better than what we were practicing before Christianity was introduced.
A poor man is found guilty and he is asked to appease the God's with a fowl , sheep or a goat or what have you which he can't afford, he goes to family members to borrow to provide these things which is enjoyed by the priest and his family.
No one forces any church member to give offering and mind well organized churches has structures in the church so pastors don't just squander the church's money.
There's more on this subject than what time will allow.
We can all choose sides.

If Moderator Martey is truly against LGBT and he has been preaching against them, let his deeds show. The Supreme Court decision should bring the best out of Martey. He should stop going to USA.

Moderator Martey says he and his church will cease to have anything to do with PCUSA yet he is benefiting from the PCUSA. Rev. Herbert Oppong is studying at Columbia University and PCUSA seminary on PCUSA scholarship. Rev Dr. Azuma is teaching at Columbia University, a PCUSA seminary and Azuma has started directing Ghanaian Presbyterians associated to PCUSA who goes to study at Columbia to leave their PCUSA church to join Martey’s Presbyterian churches in USA. It is our understanding that Rev. Kwapong, the Presbytery chairman of Akuapem Presbytery is on his way to study at Princeton University, another PCUSA seminary on PCUSA scholarship. Moderator Martey, if you are a Man of God and you are acting as such, then this behavior is unchristian. Withdraw all your people from PCUSA seminaries.

Most important, the Supreme Court of the land of USA has made same sex marriage legal in all the states in the USA. Why has Moderator Martey not come out strongly to condemn the Supreme Court of USA and the people of USA? For Moderator Martey’s position on this issue, and if he does not want to do anything with PCUSA, then Moderator Martey should be bold and condemn USA and surrender whatever visa he has to enter the USA and stop going USA. He should also stop ALL his pastors from travelling to USA but not the few who are affiliated to Ghanaian PCUSA churches from travelling to USA.

Lately what Moderator Martey’s pastors are doing in the USA is preaching just as Moderator speaks against same sex marriage and Ghanaian Presbyterian Churches associated with PCUSA as soon as they see a member of PCUSA church affiliation in their midst.
I hope that the Consular of USA in Ghana is hearing this and would Withdraw visas of all PCG pastors in USA and stop Moderator, the Clerk of General assembly, Rev. Kwapong and the rest from entering the USA. The Consular should also withdraw the visas of all PCG pastors with PCG churches in USA.

Finally, with the Supreme Courts ruling, Moderator Martey and his “holy thou art” people have no place nor business in the USA. Moderator should call all his people from USA back to Ghana to start a “holy city” at Abokobi for the “holy Presbyterian’s.”
