Our journalist today don't seem to e very educative and intelligent, they write and say anything for the public. This woman arrogance and pride is beyond measure. No reasonable person can look at the face of a helpless headmistress who has been trying hard to run a school without basic chalk she needs everyday and NDC government with no thinkers, decide to provide PCs though they have no electricity, this is a waste of resources and if Mahama and his cronies are following this, they should be scared because this headmistress has shone that she is brighter, sensible than the 2nd lady, her husband and her boss, Mahama. Instead of bringing then chalk you brought computers, what has a goat got to do with cake? This simply shows that NDC has lost touch with the plight of Ghanaians, that is if they ever knew what the problem of Ghana is. How can you help people if you do not know what their concerns are?

It's the mindset behind the work she's doing, her perception and attitude towards the needy people and the parents she assisting matters more than anything else. if somebody gives freely (or gives out of abundance) and spits them or is rude to the receiver, how can that act of giving be received in good faith? The act will be received but it can punch deep holes in the receiver's heart that may never be mended. Her entire attitude is rudeness, bitterness, frown on the poor and 'i'm better - than- thou'. She's asking for forgiveness because she's being forced to do so and not necessarily because she's accepted her mistake: she's still the arrogant individual that she's. No change in her yet

While other countries are using transparencies & overhead projectors, whiteboards and tablets, and computers powered with broadband access, our schools are still trapped in unpardonable obsolescence - pre 1970's textbooks & dusty chalks.

My man, think!!. Many of the schools now are still like the schools of the 70s coz our gov'ts don't invest enough in education. We still have pupils learning under trees or in dilapidated buildings we call classrooms.
Why do you think countries like Malaysia and South Korea have developed into economic power houses? It isn't because the have more natural resources than Ghana. It is because they invested heavily in education. They developed their human wealth.

Am sure chalk is a basic necessity in our classrooms and the basic part of every educational budget. Students pay PTA FEES etc some of which are used for these basic necessities. We are becoming a nation with cups in our hands begging everywhere yet, the resources are provided. We should be careful especially with a notorious political party like NPP playing politricks with everything. The forum was even wrong for the teacher to request further assistance, it was absolutely uncalled for, however, for me what has happened tells me that NPP are teaching our children never to be satisfied with what is given from ones heart but must go out cup in hand begging . No wonder our streets are full of beggars.

There is a fundamental question that needs an answer: Why is it the Vice President's wife donating computers, why is she responsible for anything other than being the wife of the VP? Is she employed by the Ghana Education Service? And if not, should it not be the GES giving out these computers or for that matter chalk, to its schools. The problem with us is that we put people on pedestals they do not deserve or belong to. She should have nothing to do with education policy or distribution of its resources. Instead of the appropriate and responsible ministry or entity doing its work quietly and competently, these politicians arrogate to themselves these "duties" to score points; the computers belong to the public, she is not a charitable organization, why is she even involved in this whole thing? That's why we remain backward, we glorify incompetence, we have misplaced priorities and we appear to kowtow to authority where there is none. The VP's wife should just go to work, whatever she does, cook for her husband and stay away from public activities. In most well organized and functioning societies, she would be just another face, working as a consultant or a bank clerk dishing out cash to customers, not making appearances in schools to deliver computers.

Parent -Teacher Associations meet the gaps of their schools and the communities tend to raise money for arts, music, athletics and other programs. Mrs. Amissah-Arthur is on point. Communities must own their schools and not expect the government to do everything. They have to be involved. A community that waits for chalk is not one that I would support.
