Ghanafuor nkurasifuor same sex relations have always been normal and will continue to be as long as humans are here. Since the very earliest accounts of history same sex relations have been documented. Further scientific study reveals that ALL mammal species exhibit same sex relations. So we can conclude that it is a normal variation in human behavior.

But since it is in the minority we see certain fear, superstitions, and mythical stories about it. That is normal. Just like we see people with very high intellectual achievement as different in some way. How does this bishop intend to enforce these regulations? Is he going to appoint referees in every bedroom in Ghana to be blowing whistles at night when couples start sexual activity.

And why is he only concerned about same sex, there are many other activities that the bible condemns yet we practice them freely and openly in Ghana. For example multiple wives, sex before marriage, children out of wedlock, woman speaking in church, collecting bribes, connection men and fake papers. Yet no threats for Ghana future for Ghanaians participating in these activities. Why not?

Same sex marriage will be a reality all over the world at some point. No doubt. As for Ghana we are still in primitive state of mind so it will take time. Ghanaians have believed many things that today we know are natural phenomena for example sickle cell we used to think it was something from the gods, several diseases we thought were generational curses we now know are caused by bacteria and viruses. Albino, we used think was something strange, today we know it is one codon on a chromosome that has been deactivated during the development of the embryo.

The problem is Ghanaians cannot seem to be able to think. They cant use their brains or apply their knowledge to solve any problem facing the nation. They see everything as being the responsibility of some higher power eg a god, or a white man, to come and do for them for free. Until this mentality is erased from the minds Ghana will never have any significant advancement but continue to be a beggar nation full of mediocrity, corruption and ignorance.

If homosexuality is the new advancement, then I prefer being primitive. Devastating someone's anus is not advanced way of life.

Right at the heart of the Bible is God's compassion and love. That love strongly confronts sin and corruption, but never condemns or discriminates against people because of such things as age, ability, gender, sexual identity or race. It never condemns people, when they cannot help but be the way they are. On the contrary, it challenges us to abandon such discrimination. Being homosexual or lesbian or transgender is not a perversion, but simply the way some people are, and therefore to discriminate against them or condemn them on that basis is to contradict the heart of the gospel message. Most Christians in Europe, America and South America understand this and now legalise marriage for all.

In other words, if we are not careful we can end up using the Bible in ways that contradict the heart of its message. The former Methodist Bishop has sadly fallen in his duty to new evangelists.

The outcome from religious leaders in condemnation of LGBT people has led some Christians to act on their words and resort to mob violence where a person is called out for persecution.

This is all too common in Ghana and has severe adverse effects on Ghana's international reputation as a safe place for minorities as well as tourists and investors.

Taking certain hateful and discriminatory texts from the bible has been used by tyrants through millennia to justify enslavement of Africans, burning at the stake of old women herbalists as witches, stoning to death alleged adulterers and conducting crusades against non-Catholics. The address to students was pure evil. May God open his eyes to the core message of love proclaimed in the Gospels.

When KATH is on strike the over 500 bed MH is working. NPP has infiltrated everywhere. President Mahama is heading a listening government that, over 50 yrs now doctors now know they do not have a 'condition of service' a request they feared to make during other regimes. Other departments now reasons like this, 'this presidents is a listening leader if we also push we will get our share'. The so many demos & strikes going on are making JDM very popular and, the president most institutions and departments will best remember for improving their services conditions. Sometimes I wonder. What if these bible freaks were around in the 18th century when the abolition of slavery was being debated. Would they have taken a stand? And which side would they have taken? Would they had been for or against abolition?
After all, slavery was a biblically-endorsed pracrice and an acceptable social contract then?

But back to the sex, the subject matter!

It's the the 5-4 decision of SCOTUS granting gays and lesbians equal rights under the law that is at stake in this debate, in Africa and elsewhere.

If one believes that gays and lesbians are born like that- quirks in nature, and I tend to believe that premise-then, they are just like you and me. If that is agreed-the belief under SCOTUS decision-then they are entitled to those rights you and I -straights- have and assumed by us, on account of our "natural" birth.

My advice to those opposed to the 5-4 decision outside of the Stateside. Don't comply. After all the law is only pertinent to the United States and no other jurisdiction.

And, please let's take the Bible out of this. After all, it was written by man- warts and all- to serve as a moral compass before the age of knowledge.

The European Court of Human Rights condemned Italy on Tuesday for failing to provide legal recognition to same-sex couples and said the country should introduce some form of civil union for homosexual couples.
Italy is the only major western European country that does not recognise either civil partnerships or gay marriage.
The country was taken to the Strasbourg-based European Court by three homosexual couples who all complained that Italy discriminated against them because of their sexual orientation.
In their ruling, a panel of seven judges said same-sex couples in Italy needed greater legal rights.
"The court considered that the legal protection currently available in Italy to same-sex couples ... not only failed to provide for the core needs relevant to a couple in a stable committed relationship, but it was also not sufficiently reliable," it said.
Matteo Renzi, the Italian prime minister, said at the weekend his government would introduce a law on civil unions by the end of the year, convincing a junior minister to end a hunger strike he had started in early July to protest at the lack of legislation.
Draft legislation to allow for civil unions is blocked in the senate by thousands of amendments put forward by both the opposition and one of Mr Renzi's coalition partners.

The European Court of Human Rights was set up in 1959 and aims to protect human rights, democracy and the rule of law across the continent. It said 24 out of 47 member states of the Council of Europe rights watchdog had already legislated in favour of same-sex unions.
It ordered Italy to pay each plaintiff €5,000 (£3,500) in damages and up to €10,000 jointly to cover their costs and legal expenses.
Support for same-sex unions has risen in Italy, especially after another predominantly Roman Catholic country, Ireland, voted in May to legalise gay marriage.

I do think some of Ghana's church leaders are sincere in their fear of same-sex marriage, but their intransigent devotion to dogma creates the most un-Christlike of situations in which theology is more important than the people that theology was intended to serve.

My fellow Christians, I know you may have strong religious convictions about same-sex marriage, but when the day comes and you see how tragically wrong those alarmist church leaders were about the future, I pray you remember that the Greatest Commandment is not ‘believe these things and never change,’ it’s ‘love.’ And then find new spiritual leaders to follow because God knows we’ve got some pretty terrible leaders in Ghana today. So may hypocrites.

But even if you stick with them – who knows, maybe they’ll change – I have to warn you that as you come into contact with same-sex couples on a more regular basis, as they become your neighbours and I hope your friends too, you’ll see that their ‘lifestyle’ and even their faith really isn’t any different than your own and you’ll find yourself forced to re-examine your own assumptions about the LGBT community.

You’ll be forced ask yourself some difficult questions about what it really means to be a Christian and what it really means to love on another.

Many Ghanaians have lived most of their lives in a conservative community. So it is common to grow up believing that being gay is a choice and that choice was a sin.

It wasn’t until I stopped pointing fingers and started listening, until I opened up my eyes to my own inconsistent reading of the Bible, until ‘those people’ became my friends, not token gay people I know, but actual friends I break bread with and share my life, it wasn’t until then that I was forced to reexamine my own assumptions and ask myself some difficult questions about what I really believed and whether or not I was actually loving my neighbour as myself.

Millions of Christians around the world have done so and laws have changed, now welcoming same sex neighbours who live in good Christian marriages. Ghanaians can join enlightened Christians or stay with the fear mongering doom sayers who create community division and conditions ripe for extremists who want to enforce harsh old testament penalties on sinners. That is not a good place for a secular country like Ghana to be
