This man claims to be suffering from financial hardship yet had the money to purchase a 2000$ gun and if its untraceable is worth over 4000$ , only someone from national security could have given it to him , NDC we are not fools . We have followed with keen interest the criminal activities of the brothers Mahama and several times on this forum tried to let our people know the worst kind of criminal has occupied the highest office of the land through the murder of President Atta Mills. This affair with the equipment is only the tip of the iceberg which will bring down the mighty Titanic of the Gonja pepeni mafia. As the story develops we will hear of German , Swiss and Arab bankers looting the state coffers through bogus schemes and azaa loans. We shall encourage the American FBI and European union organized crime office to start investigations so their foreign counterparts do not go Scott free but answer in a court of law for their participation in corrupting a sovereign. There is not a single project in Ghana today that didn't have the Mahamas siphoning of billions of dollars yearly to Dubai , Switzerland , Germany , Iran , Italy and Brazil.They were so selfishly greedy that they didn't even bother to take their time to cover their tracks so there is documentation and evidence all over .Ghana has become the private property of pepeni Mahama and his relatives who are strategically placed in every institution of state to ensure pepeni omanhene gets his cut. This story of the equipment and their ridiculous stupidity in attempting to justify daylight theft is more than just proof of their low life criminal minds . They have destroyed the economy and we are now on a roller coaster ride heading directly for chaos which will lead to political violence evolving into ethnic tribal wars whereby millions of the innocent may die. It will be better to start killing Mahama and his relatives / tribesmen so we can preserve the peace and let better more competent people come and put things right. You don't put somebody in prison without investigating the cdircumstances or getting all the evidence you need to find if other people are involved. Everybody is talking about the gun this man took to the church but we have heard little about what gun it is and where this madman got the gun. It might turn out there was no gun at all or it was a toy gun this madman was holding or why hurriedly convict him without doing a thorough investigation but now this moronic thief cross dresser is now a an expert on who is a madman or who is not.

What can you expect from this cassava stick 'EMAA ATAADIE Asiedu Nketiah? If he really believes Npp is behind this madman's stupidity, then they should have done a thorough investigation to expose those Npp people instead of this hurried. 10 year sentence .

I responded to you yesterday that the guy had a locally made pistol but still you are saying there may be no gun and went as far as saying it could be a toy gun.
Yes,like a said many times,they need to investigate more to find out where he got the gun and how he got it which they can still do because the conviction was only about illegal possession of the gun but not his attempted murder or whatever that charge may be.

I believe NPP as a party has nothing to do with what this guy planned to do but the guy was doing what many in the party would have been happy of.
As for his mental illness,they can still evaluate him but that will not get him release,he still has to be confined for a long time if found to be mentally ill this time in a mental facility but not regular jail if there is something there like that.

The maximum sentence for possession of a gun in Ghana s five years so how did he get ten years if he was only convicted for gun possession?

I for one is not advocating for this man to be released. He should be sentenced to a mental institution where he can be cured or sending him to prison for ten years and releasing him after will exacerbate his problems and he will pose a bigger threat to Ghanaians in ten years than now.

Even sending him to a mental institution might prolong his stay away from society for more than ten years. John Hinckley spent more than 30 years in mental institution.

What you are quoting somebody of saying is not what I can boldly say without knowing the fact,you try to accept what some say without finding the truth,there are some lawyers in Ghana who said the guy was given the maximum sentence allowed by the law so if another lawyer is saying something different you cannot say the latter is right up until you find out the truth.
The Judge went by what is in the book,that is what many believe,the charge does not include attempted murder per the police.
The fact that somebody is convicted does not mean that individual cannot be investigated again,get your facts right.

Sarpong,I think when it comes to people with mental problems I have more knowledge in that field than you do,I have worked for more than six years with people with mental problems in sex offenders program as a counselor and know what it is but I cannot be in America saying somebody in far away Ghana has a mental problem when I have not seen the person,the only thing I can do is to suspect he has a mental problem which is the professional way to deal with such issues as compare to some of you who are ignorantly saying he has a mental problem without any proof.there is no record to show he has a mental problem,going to Akyem Tafo hospital cannot determine somebody has a mental problem,in the first place that hospital is not a mental hospital and has no psychiatrist there.
Even here in America before they can send you to a mental hospital a specialist has to come to you in the regular hospital if that is where you are suspected to be a mentally ill to question you before drawing conclusion you need to be transported to a mental hospital.

Coming here calling people illiterates is not what this case is about,this is a professional issue,this place is not where we should be talking about what we do or did in life or be writing resume that is why we don't like talking about what we do or did in life.

I am not a Psychiatrist to diagnose him as a mental patient but the evidence from his family who have said since his deportation from Italy, he has been showing this mental sickness.

You read what his mother said and even suggested the mother should be arrested because this guy has been saying he wants to kill the President and now you are telling us you have been a sex offenders Counselor so you are an Expert in diagnosing who is a mental patient. What training has you received as a Counselor?

Anybody can be Counselor without being an Expert. I have been a Counselor for Youths in trouble in Texas as a volunteer for more than fifteen years but that does not make me an Expert in diagnosing as a mental case.

They took him to that hospital because he was behaving like a madman. You have to be really hard of hearing to dispute what his family has said about his mental ability and his behavior not to believe this guy has mental problems/

You live in Colorado, do you think such a case like this would have been adjudicated in Colorado like this? Be for real and stop being blinded by partisan politics. Nobody, at least not me is advocating for this guy to be set free but he needs to be evaluated and if he needs to be sent to a mental institution for the rest of his life, so be it but I don't want to see this guy on the street of Ghana in ten years time when his sickness would have been worse.

If you read my earlier comments you would have realized I wrote one time the judge should have entered not guilty on his behalf at the time I thought the guy pleaded guilty only to read later he even pleaded not guilty but the judge did not accept the plea and sentenced him.

If the law in Colorado says that is what they must do the judge will do the same.
In America here a jury have found many people of guilty without using not guilty of reason of insanity though these people have mental problems on record but not records with a fetish priest as some of the reasons the family gave,records from fetish priest does not work in court of law.
One example that you can google and others to see was recently the case of the Theater shooter in Aurora,Colorado when the defense wanted to use mental illness or reason of insanity of the accused but was not bought by the jury and the guy was found guilty now facing the death penalty though he had a record of mental illness,there was at least a known person convicted and executed in your state who was known to have had a mental illness,this is not unusual.
There are many in Ghana but we don't fight for them even if their mental illness leads them to steal plantain,we don't fight for them,why this one,is it because he wanted to kill the president.

The problem is that our security system is weak full of clueless people,just imagine the BNI going to a taxi station to look for the brother to find out if the guy was mentally ill instead of the hospital to check the records and also question the brother about how and where he got the gun,his phone records,who he was talking to find out if he has accomplice,the fact that he has been convicted does not mean the end of the case or the investigation,after all he was not charged or convicted for attempting to kill the president.
This guy has confessed to have gone to the church four good times to kill the president always sitting at the same spot,three rows away from the president saying all the time that he was going the president was not in church except the first visit which was the day he didn't have the guy on him but not even a single security man noticed the movement of this guy up until a smart lady spotted him suspecting his actions.This guy went to the church to find out where the president usually sits and went home to get his gun ready to kill the president going there three good times which shows he knew what he was doing even if he has a mental problem.
In a civilized and a serious country the mother would have been in custody by now and others who knew he was always threatening to kill the president as confessed by the mother for accessory to a crime.

Finally,the president should fire his entire security detail including Yaw Donkor who is just sitting in office without anybody hearing from him and instead hire this lady and other serious people to take care of his security and that of the country.
Anytime I see the security team around the president I laugh, if you have any idea on security you will know those guys have no clue,the way they carry the radios alone is funny,we can do better than that.

We heard how some people in Kumasi jubilate when President Mills passed away.

As for the security around the president and others,it is useless.
Just look at the speed they drive government officials including the president,more than the take off of an airplane putting everybody's life at risk.
Sometimes you will see the riders far away while the convoy is caught up in a traffic then they will go and stop waiting for them while the lead driver is honking to get his way through,they have different speed limit for them while the citizens also have different speed limits.

Sometimes you have to give credit to even your enemies; the NPP deserves to be assessed in higher terms than this. If it were that murderous, it could have employed a better way to achieve that heinous feat.

Meanwhile, various members of the culprit's family have been stressing that the guy had a mental problem. Why did the Law Enforcement and the Courts not ask for expert psychiatric evaluation of the culprit before the judgment? Was he even provided any legal assistance? Unless he waived his right to an attorney, the Court might have erred big time by foisting the judgment on him without allowing him the right to an attorney. As obvious as the crime seems to have been perpetrated by the culprit, even with all his confessions, it is only fair that the criminal would be allowed to have a legal assistance. He could have pled insanity. If the Court is denying him that insanity status, then we must question how it could pronounce any judgment on the culprit for a lesser charge of owning a gun without a license...Unless the Court itself is attempting to suppress any likelihood of further investigation to reveal other possible accomplices.

This allegation by Asiedu Nketiah is a shameful cheap shot at NPP, and he must stop mouthing off like that. Surely, investigations must proceed to establish all that needs be revealed about this crime. It is natural for such and investigation to proceed. But until the investigation is thoroughly and truthfully completed, it would disingenuous and even stupid for anyone to assume the NPP had anything to do with it. It would not even matter if the culprit is a registered NPP member. That does not make the NPP an accomplice.

The NDC must not capitalize on this incident to solicit for any Public sympathies. It must strive to do what is right by the Nation by curbing its hydra-headed problems like Dumsor and Corruption. Only then would the NDC be making a sensible case for staying in Power.

A typical example is the case of the National Service and the GYEEDA/SADA thieves still walking around. The judges should handle all cases as quickly as possible.

The problem was with the nature of the trial he got and the whether or not he was competent to stand trial. Why was there a need to rush the trial? After all he was then in the grips of the security agencies and posed no harm to the society. Could we have done the necessary investigations before putting a "mad" man, like you described him, on trial? Why not then charge him with attempted murder? We need to behave more reasonably than the so-called mad man, otherwise there won't be any difference between us.
