It is good we are all looking at the various causes of the failure or non functioning of the state , we say its a failed state because it does not benefit the people in any way. The compromises made in the constitution totally erased any true obligation for public officials /civil servants to work for the welfare of the people . Rather they created privileged , untouchable , can do no wrong , non accountable groups that like vampires suck the people dry . We now have whole groups that are practically above the law . Laws are meant to oppress all those who are unlucky enough to have their tribe , ethnic group or relatives not affiliated to the ruling tribe or elite. We have developed a system of governance worse than than the Indian castes or monarchy of the middle ages as no development can ever succeed that doesn't tap all the potential of the whole nation. Whole groups based on ethnic backgrounds are excluded this was started by Achampong who appointed his Ashantis , continued by JJ who had a preference for Ewes and now Mahama who only trusts his relatives and northerners . In all fairness the we can not blame the ordinary northerners and ewes who have taken advantage of this mess did so because the bogus constitution allows it. This constitution encourages elitism ,nepotism, ethnocentrism , hegemony and a privileged corrupt class of civil servants . There is no partisan politics only tribal affiliations which facilitate enmity . There can never be national unity so we Akans opt to secede since we now have the numbers and population to create a sustainable state . In the late 40's and 50's the population of Ghana was around 5 million today just the Fanti speakers of the western and central regions are more than 5 million which is more than enough to create a new state , Africa can only unite , develop and be free when these imperialistic colonial borders are broken. We all know the political arena is polarized based on ethnic divides rather than political ideology and all sides have deeply dug their trenches and can not afford to loose which is a ripe situation for political violence which will lead to ethnic war . Any war started on this principle if it lasts longer than a month will automatically lead to the break down and secession of the various nations or tribes as the white man would classify. Let us not focus our energies on the hatrad of our enemies rather diligently prepare to create our own nation out of this mess. The blue print for creation of new nations and the obligations are in the Bible and a any nation ignoring this requirement given by God will suffer. Gunman sits fidgeting at every noise thinking the president might be the one coming by; fortunately, he was caught. Then he knew to behave like he is a mental patient in order to be freed. The judge in this case is useless, he is just a rubber stamp. I do further question the capability of this judge to adjudicate justice fairly and if he even knows the law. Even if this guy was tried and found guilty, 10 years is still outside the sentencing guidelines for such an offense.
The narrow minded have politicized this issue without realizing this could be their own friend or brother. Man, I tell you, Ghana and Africa is beginning to seem like a hopeless case. It is sad.

Amnesty International would consign this petition to its heap of rejected petitions for the primary reason that it just does not make a lot of legal sense.
If the lawyer asserts that the would-be assassin is "mentally unwell" he should provide a preponderance of evidence to bolster his claim. Making an assertion and laying down irrefutable facts are entirely dissimilar.
The would be assassin, was not granted due process, he was hurriedly tried and sentenced without legal representation.
However, the London lawyer should be mindful of the fact that the judge in the case took the controversial decision to fast track the trial to save the nation a protracted episode that would surely have dragged the into unpredictable difficult circumstances.

For a moment I concluded that our level of politics has attained maturity but I am being proved wrong. A gunman who wanted to kill the president was arrested and the two major political parties remained silent on the issue without trading counter accusations as had been the case in the past. However, a few days after the gunman was sentenced, an NDC Constituency Chairman accused the NPP of being behind the crime and as if that is the beginning of the usual counter accusation the Secretary General of the NDC followed by accusing the NPP of responsibility. I wish the NPP will show maturity by not responding but rather stayed focused on national economic and social issues confronting the nation. The question I want to ask the public is this; who will benefit from Mahama's death? Certainly it is the vice president as it was the case when President Mills died. Also, the NDC as a party stands to gain as they will use the presidents death to win the sympathy votes as they did in 2012. Who has the incentive to kill the president? My short answer is those who stand to gain AND certainly not the NPP. Finally, my advise to the NDC as a party is that if they have any evidence of complicity of the NPP they should present the evidence to law enforcement in the interest of national security.
