Unique polling stations identification is not an option to maintain the integrity of the electoral voting system. We have a total of 21,004 polling stations in Ghana. Giving them unique identification to reflect that will erase any possibility of fictitious Polling Station being created by corrupt Election Officers. We don’t need any A, B and C version of Polling Stations to allow any corrupt official to calculate the totals for that polling station to fiddle and manipulate the result for those polling stations. At the moment if you visit The Ghana EC website, Bolgatanga municipality has polling stations identification like the following: KOTOKOLI ZONGO: J030104B, NAWONGO: J030304B BUKERE: J030702B, SOE: J031002B, YOROGO: J031102B, GAMBIBGO: J031202B, ZUARUNGU EAST: J031802B. AMOGREBISI: J032203B, BASENGO: J032602B, KALBEO: J032702B. These polling stations have no ‘A’ versions. How can you have ‘B’ versions of polling stations without ‘A’ versions? This makes it possible for corrupt officials to create fictitious A versions to add additional votes for national collation. There are also many A versions as well without a B version. These anomalies happen across all areas of the various regions.
It doesn’t matter how vigilant the polling agents may be, without giving unique identification to reflect the total number polling stations in the system, the elections can still be rigged. Giving a unique numbers to reflect the range (1 to 21004 or 00001 to 21004) will eliminate any fictitious polling stations as id numbers outside the range or any repeat number is automatically deemed so. And that will give Ghanaians the accurate result votes of the 21,000 polling stations.
They should also employ teachers in the various localities as a standard for all proper democracies as electoral officers to avoid corrupt officials being selected to do any rigging job.

Their agent, the discredited and shamed Opanyin Kwasiato Afari Djan is not at the place to cover up their criminal deeds, intents and election stealing so they fear of being exposed.
The EC new chairperson must be watched, helped and supported to organized for a new register for transparent, free and fair elections come 2016.
It's also extremely important that she listens to the concerns raised by all parties and give equal attention to each for a peaceful election.
No party is bigger than Ghana and we should put things acceptably in place that we do not go the bitter Ivory Coast way.
Having said that, I don't understand why the NDC is against doing the right thing by auditing the existing voters register to ascertain its authenticity for free, fair, peaceful democratic elections?

and that the auditing of the voters list will help ghnaians know the true winner of 2016 general elections.
The clueless NDC which has been favored to steal the elections by the retired Afari Gyan, has caused the displeasure of Ghanaians.
Being in this hot seat, ghanaians will appreciate and honour you dearly the moment you decide without fear or favour to get the voters register audited or replaced, will simplify your job.
The irresponsible NDC government wants to resist the auditing or the introduction of new voters registers.
I believe foreign governments are ready to help Ghana make the irrevocable change of government.

My point is if a party that does not know their left or right regarding the needs of Ghanaians is elected, the harm that will be done in the course of the four years in power will be ten times the cost involved in considering a new voters registration. Look at what is happening now, a whole bunch of thieves in power each person is money hungry, dont care about who voted them into power. How much hasn't it cost the country for the court case orchestrated after the elections?
The country has never recovered from that. We could have used part of that expense on fixing say the power(dumsor) problem but it all leaked to waste just like the NPP had wished.
Now a little over a year to elections these same cynical NPP is asking for the unthinkable of a new voters register.
A new voters register should only be done or prepared in the first year or two after a major election otherwise it is useless or could be phased and gradual open for four years after a major election.
The only thing at this stage of elections in 2016 there is no case for a new voters register and the reason being that the effects of not making a new one affects every party evenly.
The important issue will be that in order not to disenfranchise teenagers who have come of suffrage age and others who have relocated to make transfers and even the known who have passed on could be taken of the roll.
Coming of suffrage age of 18 years should equally be the responsibility of citizens and families to go to the electoral commission offices with a proof of date of birth and permanent address and get enrolled for the 2016.
This process is the most cost effective way. In the same vein there may be persons who might have turned the age to vote but would not care or want to vote and will not register just like the case that during normal registration periods not everyone registers by the way.
To ask for wholesale registration a year to election under an new Electoral Commissioner who needs time too adjust to the enormity of the role is asking for too much. It will just be a logistical nightmare and if I should be the new commissioner I will do my SWOT analysis and report back that it is not a venture i would like to undertake. It should be done after the elections from 2017.

The NDC is just one political party whose self-serving lone opinion is not law and should not be allowed to drown out or override the united opinion expressed by all the other political parties. Their fierce opposition to a new credible voters register devoid of its present imperfections is proof that they either won unfairly or didn't win at all the last elections whose verdict was disputed and settled in the Supreme Court of Ghana. The Electoral Commission itself was not spared verbal outrage and was accused of being in bed with the NDC. All that's history and today we have the opportunity to redeem ourselves and re-write our electoral and political history in letters of gold. Let's not ruin the second chance because a third chance may be just too costly to bear or it may never happen.Eager eyes both local and abroad are watching how we choose to walk through this. Therefore, having used the NHIS to register people in the past implies that there are non citizens on the voters register.

If NDC honestly believes the register is credible, they should rather be the champions for a new register, or at least auditing the existing one to prove their point. They smell fishy!
