To distance yourself from "pepeni born ayigbes" is a remarkable thing to do. Why all these effects if not a stupid and foolish lawless man claimed himself president? Why are those whose perfection are not self-seeking but devoted to render health services and care for the ordinary turning their backs to what they believe in; The very principles of their perfection? Since democracy is eligible for any "Joker", it is not necessary you won't come across "pepeni born ayigbes". In fact, the care taker can no longer trust what he believes in than to trust Pepeni, therefore 40 years is a reasonable time interval of distance and a particular time period to rest assured.

NPP can add that to their manifesto that they will pay the doctors whatever they are demanding but I can say from the bottom of my heart that it will nbackfire.

Akuffo Addo and his party should come out to say they will honor those outrageous demands.

One of the reasons why most Ghanaians like President Rawlings is he will tell you the truth even if that will cost him politically and I can see that coming from President Mahamah,he will win the election in a landslide for being firm in the interest of the country,this is different from not paying people who worked or are working.

In America truck drivers and landscapers make more than teachers. Nurses make more than engineers with masters degrees. During the housing boom in US I know nurses who quit their post to sell real estate and mortgages. During the dotcom boom people fresh out of school with bachelors degree in computer science were making more than their professors. Now it is the opposite. It sounds bad but at the end of the day everyone has the choice to work where they want. You cant say somebody got this but I have degree and get that thererfore government must give me such and such. It does not work like that.

It is not only the Doctors that are on strike. The Judicial service, Pharmacists, nurses and many more. The sad situation is that these ministers and the President and families will go overseas for medical care. At times it surprises me if people sit down and reflect on how all these hardships came about. Ghanaians have indeed short memories. Have you guys(those insulting the Doctors)soon forgotten how Mahama was dissipating the country's money to his cronies, the Atubuga,Afari Djan, etc etc. How could the coffers not get dry, when he dashed out cars to chiefs, school girls for votes. In Ghana, however, recklessness, CORRUPTION, financial indiscipline, uncalled for arrogance of government officials, wanton WASTE, etc., etc., are the bane of our gargantuan problems.

I don't really know much about what the doctors are asking for, but my reading on it tells me that they're demanding salaries they've already earned but not paid. So, what has that got to do with budgetary austerity that the Head Negro is talking about? Didn't the government have the salaries and other benefits for the doctors in the budget already?

So, why are the politicians, MPs, cabinet and state ministers, regional and district chief executives PAID on time every month, but not doctors and other workers??

Mr. President, the problems—as already enumerated above—are official corruption and fiscal indiscipline. JUST SOLVE those two problems and the revenues from our abundant natural resources, taxes, fees, foreign aid, loans, etc., etc., can take care of our people without much sweat!! NPP man Afoko father dies when doctors abandoned their post. Okuapemanhene also died at Korle Bu the same day when doctors failed to report to post. Are your members ready to account for these acts bordering on murder?

And now even NPP is distancing itself from this disgraceful behavior. Ghanaian taxpayers can pay you only what they can afford. If you dont like it you can find employment elsewhere.

Some of us went to the same school you went and became domiciled elsewhere for similar economic reasons. But that is a choice we made. It is not easy anywhere but we do the best we can.

Holding people at ransom and playing politics with their health is not going to solve anything that is why you are seeing this strong backlash from the public against the doctors demands.

There is no reason why, Government would allow any group of Ghanaians to make it "a Weaker Partner". Government is a powerful institution backed by the law. The moment the Government allows itself to pushed around by any person or group then the Government has proved itself incapable of carrying its role as Government. The only viable option for the Government is to make it clear that, it will not grant the doctors their outrageous demands. They should resign en masse as they threatened.

Always thinking of the next elections!! Inasmuch as I think the doctors demands are rather high, they started complaining several months ago. What did government do? Dragging their feet, calling their bluff and of course the sharp teeth babies were insulting. We all know times are hard but when government is spending recklessly, wasting money on frivolous things like judgement debts, war planes etc, no one will think of sacrificing. Look at how money was wasted at the recent talensi elections! Taxpayers money was used to sponsor Akua Donkor to Italy. You president your child is schooling in Dubai, your wife spent 90british pounds partying in London and when the poor kids in kukurantumi ask for common chalk, they are insulted. All these things are annoying and it is not worth dying or sacrificing for Ghana anymore. So the hard stance taken by the doctors though harsh, is unserstandable because we all see the wastage in the system. Ministers do no job but jump from radio station to station to insult perceived political enemies and at the end of the month they collect thousands of cedis. Is this fair? BTW how much had been collected so far from the 10% our president GENEROUSLY donated from his monthly salary to be used for CHPS compounds???

Tell them the truth in their eyes about the current financial situation in the country, say look the country is broke so we cannot meet the demands you are proposing at this time and let us wait till maybe a certain time where another budget will be prepared and include it in by negotiating and see with the leadership,of the doctors. But to sit in his office and say what he said is not going to calm waters. Ghana is acting like a father who lives in opulence yet he is refusing to meet the demands of his children. Employment laws ensure that your salary is assured for hors work but your bonus, extra conditions are not guaranteed

It is disingenuous for the president to all of sudden start talking about fiscal discipline forgetting about its reckless spending habit. If the government really wanted to meet the demands of the doctors, it could have captured the cost in the current year's budget because the notice of this strike was given long before the beginning of the budgeting process. NDC losing the next election will not only be because of the doctors strike but as a result of the numerous leadership failures it has displayed over the years and above all its appetite for corruption.

The people will suffer and then the people will force their government who employs the health workers to sit up. Once the labour union knows their demands will not be heeded to they are rather emboldened to do what ever it takes including developing the similar DEAD GOAT attitude to public outrage. The health systems will collapse( even if temporarily) and the people will demonstrate against their government for failing. Brain drain will intensify in the health sector once more(which only actually benefits the countries which support IMF with more skilled labour). The effects will be felt the most in the district and regional hospitals, since they have less private hospitals available. Those who can afford private care will have to pay more for healthcare(don't forget the NHIS is almost useless). The people will be affected most and they will chase their DEAD GOAT president out of office even if he wins the next election. My thoughts...you can add or subtract if you have any contribution.

We are building flyovers, schools, etc. all over the place (which is good for the development of the nation) but if you are not able to negotiate and come out with a consensus with those who handles the health of your people, then it is not acceptable. Putting up these so-called development projects to win votes doe not show the government cannot afford partial demands of the doctors. Also Mahama should speak to his surrogates to stop putting insult into injury by insulting the doctors. It does not solve but rather compounds the problem. Let Mahama come again.

In 1960, when Our 1st President Dr Kwame Nkrumah opened over 200 Secondary schools without enough Teachers? What did he do? He invited Over thousand America Peace Corps to take up Teaching appointments for two years.Similar thing can be done effectively to put an end to unnecessary death.
