I wrote a comment last week that this UTAG and NAGRAT will soon follow,the three most useless unions in the country that think of only their pockets.
I don't blame them but all the politicians including the NDC that always use these workers' strikes to score cheap political points and based on that the NDC government is finding it very difficult to do what is right using international standard to deal with this menace in the country,there is nowhere perhaps except Ghana that you can see this rampart strikes because they pay them while on strike,if these people should lose even one day pay their union members will oppose the constant strikes without regards to labor rules.
How can you get paid while on strike,why people will not continue to go on strike when they are being paid sitting at home?
Let me tell you that NDC is not doing this because they think they will remain in power forever,they are doing this in the interest of the country but NPP that is only interested in ruling the country is playing politics with it to win votes,the government will not do anything to make it difficult for future governments be it NPP or NDC,unlike NPP that will sign contracts or take some decisions just minutes before exiting power to make it difficult for the incoming government to govern as Kufour did.

All people at big places are driving 6 or 8 cylinder eengines while othe workers are not paid for many months. Certainly, that is not fair. If worker are treated faily and they decide to go on strike, it is the masses that will go against them.

These would be kept at the departments and schools so that it would be available (short loan periods) to all interested parties.
When that is done, lectures will have the books and all materials they need stored in their various departments. Hence monies will not be collected for subsequent years if the same lecture teaches the same module.
However, if the govt included such allowances in the lectures conditions of service or captured them in their appointment letters, then the lectures are right to demand what is legally theirs.
The govt can get a better deal if it is able to negotiate intelligently with the lectures.
