As for the reportage in Ghana, I agree with you that it is terrible but however it seems that you are even more terrible than the reportage.

Blame the system in Ghana,it is a failed system,these inmates supposed to be reviewed very often to determine those who can be on their own to move out of the facility and be visited occasionally but we keep them there forever.

What they need to do in the interim is not to send female to male inmates and vice versa,it happens everywhere when there is these kind of problems which I wonder why they will send female nurses to male inmates and also one nurse should not go to the inmates,at least two should go there,they supposed to get training in Therapeutic Crisis Intervention to know how to deal with such inmates when something like that happens,every worker including those in management needs to get trained in that field in both theory and practical and get certificate to work there,you cannot work with such people without the adequate training.

Finally,it is unprofessional for whoever said this to the media to do that,they don't have to tell the general public these kind of things,very bad,we have thrown ethics to the dust bin.

@Ta: just as the word sound or explains. IN-MATE. They're mates in an institution. Even though the term IN-MATE OR INMATE is popularly used for people that are incarcerated, however, it not a locked down term. Cheers

When I first arrived in the UK and working in a psychiatric hospital, I did the same thing. I had a good dressing down and asked to re-write the notes. Here patients can sue you for referring to them as IN-MATES. LOL.
