The doctors must come out clean on their threat with resignation letters. Will they revive the souls that are being lost as a result of their insensible strike?? This doctor thinks government can just use two or three days to give in to their demands while he recently said they have been making these demands for 19 years without a success.
No government will do such thing,the government should also be careful not to rush to give in to these demands,they should know why all the past governments have refused to give in to these outrageous demands,if they give in to even 1/8 of what they are asking they must know that they have created trouble for the country.
I wonder what is keeping them for this long to resign,they keep making noise about resignation but forget that what they are doing now is not much difference from resignation,the only thing we want to hear from them is turn in their resignation letters individually since they were not hired en mass,they have already resigned.
Many of them cannot survive when they resign,it is just a noise they are making,if they resign it will help the government to now rehire those who will accept the prevailing conditions before being hired and the government will have to dissolve the union for health workers in the country.

80 gallons of fuel? ha ha ha ha ha ha. These people are the most stupid I have ever seen so far.

I hope they resign and come to US and try the same here. Ha ha ha ha. First of all they may not even pass the board exams and will have to work as nurse or paramedical staff.

And nobody gives you any allowance. You negotiate your pay and that's it. If you need a vehicle you go to the dealership and buy one and pay by yourself. Tax exemption my ass. And when the fuel tank is empty every American doctor fills it and pays from their own pocket. And every so often if it need repairs or servicing you take it yourself and pay for it, nobody gives you maintenance allowance for that.

Ghanaian doctors in US are living in their own houses they purchased with mortgages. Period. Nobody gives anyone accomodation allowance here. And based on your consumption you pay your own utility bills.

Clothing allowance? How much do those white coats cost? There are plenty at WalMart, nobody will give an allowance for that. Some hospitals buy them in bulk and share to the staff every year for free. You buy your own soap and wash it, no maintenance allowance.

And if you go on strike you forfeit your pay. The union compensates you if they can. But if the strike is not approved you are fired from the job and go and find another job elsewhere.
If you think politicians are making more than you, then guess what? You quit your job and go into politics. You don't say Obama secretary got this and I have more schooling than him so I must get more and if not I will leave patients to die. Bush people. In fact in US you will lose your license to practice and my even end up in jail.

No gov't on this earth will give an employee 100 gals of fuel which comes to 5 gals a day just to commute from the house to work: I mean the doctors proposals were not thought through or it was deliberately done just to get the gov't into a fix; because discussing this unreasonable proposal alone will certainly, take unnecessary time. On maintenance, for example, the doctors request is absolutely naïve, simply because vehicle maintenance is for cars not human beings and therefore it's based on the model or size of ones car not oneself and why on ones salary? And for best reasons it is limited to vehicles below 2000cc, to prevent people buying EGO massaging fuel guzzling monster 4x4 cars for the gov't to bear the cost of fueling and maintenance. The doctors just don't have a case that's why people are reading politics into their approach.

Gov't should on it's own accord, without the GMA asking for it offer to add a premium allowance for enticing medical doctors to rural or underserved areas, add free local flights and transport for Consultants to go to underserved areas and rural areas once every week to take care of cases which requires badly needed expertise lacking in such areas.
I don't see allowances for security. I don't see any allowances for childcare, neither do I see any allowances for just motivation. The GMA should revise the demands because it is woefully inadequate. It is just inadequate at all.

In the first place GMA is an association just like ACCA,AC (Gh),GBA, CIMG etc.. The GMA compose private practitioner and public sector workers. The big question will decision being that Doctor should affect GMA executives if they private practice? I want the Government to insert in Doctors Condition of Service that 'Its an offence for a Doctor in the employment of Government to do any form time job'

What do you mean by a day or two? Why are you afraid that your demands may be made public? YOU HAVE EVEN GONE AGAINST LABOR LAWS and you think you are right? Junior Drs take home 7000GhC a month plus all allowances and free accommodation and this is not enough for you. We know conditions of service of other public servants, why not medics in public facilities? You know very well how extravagant your demands are and are afraid of being subjected to questioning of your luxurious demands. How many hours do you people stay at post...be honest and fair to us all? You want to be given the highest paid in the country....why? Your training costs the nation higher than any other and you want to be paid higher than any other. You people should resign and lets the nation find solution to its health problems. You keeping us on air is killing many. There should be new regulations on admissions to medical schools in this country. Those crooks and thieves at the medical schools take haevy bribes and admit children of the rich who are never satisfied by any amount of salary and are heartless towards the poor in the country. The few brilliant but poor students who per chance get admitted are posted to remote areas after graduation. Children of the rich and famous stay at Korle bu, 37, Police hosp, KATH and co. Enough of this nonsense. Govt. should take a bold stance and let you people resign. Cuban Drs are ready to occupy your bungalows and offer better services than you lazy medics.
