If the government of the day cannot negotiate with labour then the government rather has to resign. We can replace them easily within minutes if they resign. I take over 10 years to train a competent doctor and 6 years to replace a single house officer so we cannot entertain them resigning. Those advocating for Doctors to resign are the ones who have the mans to travel abroad for medical care and do not care a hoot about the ordinary Ghanaian who struggles even to find transport to the hospital to see a doctor.
All these politicians have friends who are doctors and if they do not travel abroad, only pick a phone to ask a friend for advice and a prescription. They are fooling the masses and throwing dust in the air. They know people will die as a result of this impasses, but are confident that this will not be their relative. Sad sad situation

People should remember that this thing has been going on for 19 years. They bypass JJ and K4 and dump on the one government that is will to take the issue on. One wonders if it's political or tribal. I say it's neither. The politicians didn't forget to take care of themselves all these yearsn notwithstanding party affliction or tribal orientation? So they need to work hard to resolve this impasse.

Today due to internet anybody can review their demands, make comparisons and see whether their claims have merit or not. And anyone can google and see that even in America doctors are receiving NONE of the demands the Ghana doctors are demanding for allowances etc, NONE.

And public who paid for their education and freebies is strongly against this demands. If you cant stand the heat, get out of the kitchen. Thousands of qualified Ghanaians could not stand the salary levels so they left for other places. The doctors have the same freedom.

But look at them claiming they are on strike whiles living free in government bungalows and still collecting salary. if I was Mahama I would stop paying them immediately and deduct any unpaid work and rent, bills, from their next next paycheck.

1.0 When the public sector doctor doctors resign, the whole economy will suffer, tourism, conferences etc will just cease. But it will be invisible
2.0 Those who think Cuban doctors will come are living in a fools paradise. Even if they come, without their ghanaian counterparts, there is little they can do, language barrier, management of tropical diseases etc, that is the reason they undergo local trainig before being deployed
3.0 Doctors are not redily aavailable like self sty labour analyst. Either you re employ the same doctors at a more competitive terms or there is no alternative. Re employing them will take a lot of time. You heard for eleven months, doctors were not paid. This terms will twist the arms of government and all these IMF project will collapse or the government will collapse. Finally the governement procedure for employment is very long so many people will have died before even a quarter of the hospitals are re filled.
Talking is cheap, that is why mahama should be seeking counsel from elderly people and not self styled book haram like self stylyed analysts. They know nothing. They ae just making noise. This iissue would hve been finished by now if the governement had not politicised it, everything with brains or no brains is shputing about what they don't understand. The governement should show maturity. How can a governement by at a tussle with its own citizens? By the way for those more ignorant just go into history and read about doctors and world major events. I rest my case

2. Pay non striking Doctor extra hours allowance of 40%
3. Give a definite time line to the doctors to resign or be sacked
4. Begin negotiations with foreign countries recruit doctors.
5. Ensure all doctors residing in government buildings to move out.
Doctors cannot continue to use our lives as bargaining chip.
It's criminal.
Since it is not the first time this is happening, we must take one off decision to stop this criminal act.

If now you have a relative who is seriously sick and needs immediate medical attention you wouldn't be calling for resignation.

It is not as easy as these ndc no nothing are talking, importing other doctors from other countries how much is that going to cost the state so what sense does it make by this pride and arrogance these ndc are showing ? This is foolish pride !! The doctors are human beings who knows what Ghanaians are going thru' now the Dumsor and this doctors on strike they know how terrible it is but here is a wicked, callous and insensitive government who don't care a hoot about the citizenry because they can afford to travel for their medical attention. These doctors are home sacrificing for their country while some of their colleagues are making huge sums of money abroad and instead of talking nice to retain them this useless government has sent their bulldogs to attack with insults. “Doctor’s jobs are classified under the laws as essential services, and not essential slavery. We are just championing a cause that is basic and not out of the norm,” he said.

The gazetted document referred to by the deputy general secretary, that is the Police Service Regulations, 2012 (CI 76), details from Regulation 46 to 63 the allowances that police personnel are entitled to.

Among the allowances are acting allowance, allowance for overseas training course, conference and duties, batman allowance, clothing allowance, duty allowance and height allowance.

The rest are kilometre allowance, relating to an allowance paid per kilometre at a rate approved by the Minister of Finance when an officer uses his personal vehicle in the discharge of an official duty, responsibility allowance, entertainment, risk, subsistence, transport, leave, transfer grant, tools and vehicle maintenance, as well as kit bag allowance.

Regulation 64 of CI 76 states that “the allowances specified in regulation 46 to 63 shall be reviewed every two years by the Council.”

Additionally, Regulation 76 provides for accommodation for police officers, with chief inspectors and those below his rank entitled to free accommodation, while officers living in their personal houses or rented accommodation are entitled to 20 per cent of their basic monthly salary as rent allowance.

In Regulation 78, a police officer, the spouse of an officer, four children below 18 years of that officer, a retired police officer and the spouse of a retired police officer are entitled to free and full medical, dental or eye care at the Police Hospital or Police clinic.
