All this started because the politicians in Ghana want to become the only and new middle class and allocate privileges to themselves that no one else can have. Well it has backfired and they need to deal with it and fast!

It is because the politicians are not as corrupt, a lot of money is invested in health care, education, security, research etc. If the government can't pay the salary of doctors for almost a year, they would chase that gov. out of town. We should be in the streets demonstrating in support of these doctors. Too much money have slipped between the gaps. The gov should wake up and find ways to stop corruption. Health care is important but it does not come cheap.

And if for once doctors in Ghana can stop comparing their compensation to others abroad like the USA, cos the last time I checked very few if not a couple of Ghanaian doctors are able to pass the board certification exams when they come to the US to practice. I personally know one, he works at the post office now in the US. Oh wait, WHY NOT THE DOCTORS BE PAID FROM THE REVENUES THEY GENERATE AT THE LOCAL HOSPITALS THEY WORK AT. OR EVEN BETTER PUT THEM ON HOURLY PAY SO THEY CAN KEEP THEIR BUTT AT THE LOCAL HOSPITALS INSTEAD OF THEIR PRIVATE CLINICS. WELL, NO HARD FEELINGS HERE, BUT ANY LIFE LOST IS A SHARED RESPONSIBILITY OF PAST/PRESENT GOVERNMENT AND THE DOCTORS. I DON'T THINK ANYONE SHOULD PUT BLAME ON THIS GOVERNMENT. Senior doctor or Junior doctor you simply wrong! The little minded doctors know that they and their families will equally be subjected to their irresponsible actions and of course the consequences. You argument is a non-starter. The doctors are on strike and the vulnerable and sick are dying everyday since they have been on strike. these are preventable deaths which would not have happened if the doctors were not on strike. Lack of medical care has caused the deaths. So you see your argument is about your envy or the jealousy of your politicians. Nobody, no one is stopping a doctor to be a politicians. In fact, there are doctor and other medical personnel who are now parliamentarians so any doctor can opt for that path of career if they wish to. But what they cannot choose is to be employed as doctors in our public health sectors and then start to demand unreasonable and senseless financial conditions. May be they can go to Parliament as politicians and then demand their ''EX-GRATIAS'' Senior Doctor, nothing has backfired to the government or to the people of Ghana. Your men should either return to work or resign, period! 'NO if or but'

Well, we all know as a result of the strike, everyone is going to a private clinic. Those clinics would require doctors so not paying these doctors is not going to deter anybody but rather increase their resolve.

As a president and a PR guru of no mean standing, your Excellency know very well that an advantage if pushed too much just to rub it in becomes an overkill. You need to mask your emotions at all times. All Ghanaians including doctors know you to be the Kuffour type, slow to speak, slow to anger, and it is better to remain that way. Just keep a tap on your emotions, a gentle spirit calms all turbulent waters. Next time when stressing a point, don't let those complaining feel insulted. You may be right, but the way you say it may be too much to swallow. This is advice from an admirer.

I would have gone further if I had the say so. Why must the striking doctors live in government provided housing if they did not work that month? Should they not pay rent, utilities and any other government funded stipend? They enjoy whatever it is they were getting for work/services provided and if they do not provide such services should they not pay out of pocket for all the benefits for the period they sit on the sidelines?

The GPs in the UK are very well paid and their practises are reasonably well-resourced. They are certainly a lot better paid than GH doctors, however, you cannot compare UK doctors earnings to docs in 3rd rate GH

Did you follow the law when at Cabinet your gov't decided to write letters to DIC's to bring $35million dollars each to defray a senseless and illegal judgment debt occasioned by the illegal termination of the Bankswitch contract, incurring the state Ghc 197 million cedis? And was the law followed in awarding the contract subsequently to the unproven, inexperienced West Blue Consulting?
When we are to take about the law and jungle, Ghanaians are saying we are there already, we have been in the jungle and staying there already and we will be there until the lawless, irresponsible, incompetent, inept, thieving John Dramani Mahama NDC gov't leadership of failure and the worst governance ever, in the history of this country is massively fired at the ballot box in 2016.
We are in the jungle already. We have been in the jungle for the past 7 years of the John Dramani Mahama NDC gov't and it changes in 2016 at the ballot box. Ghanaians are saying ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.
The salary of President John Dramani Mahama and his gov't who failed to act to prevent this current situation from the time it was brought to their attention about nne months ago till now, should be refunded and moving forward, withdrawn until the current situation is fixed in this country.
We will not leave and tolerate a situation in this country where, some are of the opinion they deserve their salaries and benefits and sleep on the job and allow things to get out of hand and start talking about laws and the jungle.
Everybody will drink from that same trough of sanity in this country.

Leave the public sector and start your private company if you don't like the pay structure or even leave the country and taste the harsh life outside. Many of these doctors would need to be trained elsewhere to be employable, and many of them would never get a job in another country. Enough of the egoism.

Paying them salary when they are not working amounts to causing financial lost to the state. The state can not afford to be so benevolent and so lenient. Dr. Serebour and Adusei and co are not in touch with reality. Nobody is indispensable in this day and age. Government a lone can't even absorb all trained doctors. GMA must get real.

If i hear the doctors demand correctly, its agains 2016 and it should be added to the 2016 budget, and government is furious about that, the question is, is government going to agree to their demand or not, what is the position of goverment?
