Somebody having mental problems does not mean they cannot function. We have some professionals like Lawyers and Doctors who have mental problems but can perform their duties as career professionals.

The problem with some of people with mental problems is that, sometimes they make decisions in their own mind that seems right but society deems a taboo or not in tune with societal norms.

Charles Antwi for example was a Taxi Driver who was picking passengers and dropping them off at their destinations. His problem was that he was speeding on the pothole roads at Sunyani sometimes driving over 180 kilometers an hour. When he was advised to stop driving at 180 kilometers an hour, he asked the Taxi union in Sunyani to allow him as an individual to at least drive at 150 kilometers an hour. The guy has no clue what speeding means. His idea of what is right and wrong is totally out of whack but that does not mean he cannot reason.

The term mad is different from being mentally sick.

John Hinckley who tried to kill President Reagan was found to have a mental problem but he was able to get a gun, trace the President for days and shot him.

What good would killing Mahama be for Nana Addo, since the VP who in my opinion is worse than Manama becomes the president, and also attracts sympathy votes in the next elections. And why would one use a mentally unstable person to kill a president and not a real professional mercenary if that is the case? Is is a shame that we entertain folks like Ekua and Desoso who make a mockery of our democracy and country.

It is very easy to own a gun in Ghana and many people today own registered and unregistered guns. There are no background checks before gun registrations. A lot of guns used for armed robbery are not registered.

By the way, how do you go to war or assassinate anyone with two bullets in this guy's locally made gun. I am not saying it is impossible to kill with a locally produced gun or two bullets but which professional mentally stable person does that?

Prisons are not equipped to handle mental patients and the mentally ill person may end up harming other prisoners if kept in the same facility. And no, we are not all "mad" but there are degrees of mental instability with some people which cause them to do meaningless things. What good do you do to society by putting Antwi in prison for 10 years and letting them out to perhaps do something even worse than he was in for? A guy like Antwi needs to be treated and kept in a mental institution for as long as needed.

Akua Donkor's actions and pronouncements these past four years indicate all too well that she may have a card at Ankarful or Asylum Down.
