The president said that he had tried to introduce electronic payment and acquisition systems into the public sector {to reduce human contact with cash} in his effort to fighting corruption, but lamented that the systems were often resisted. When that became monotonous , Ghanaians began to wonder whether the president is serious and interested in fighting corruption as he claims, or just another crocodile tears to deceive them into believing that he is making some efforts, while the government and its cronies amass billions of dollars at the expense of this struggling HIPC nation.

After failing to bring about any changes in the level of corruption in the country, he has again started to blame the judiciary for not doing enough to fight it. It is abundantly clear that the president is interested in shifting blames rather than fighting the corruption, and it is also clear that he is trying to absolve himself from any responsibility while enjoying the powers vested in him by the Rawlings' 'Green Book' Constitution. They even claimed that it gives him the power to appoint an EC chairperson without consulting any one.

I remember the president telling Ghanaians that the nation loses $100,000,000.00 a month at the ports through corruption and what measures had he put in place to stop such leakage? If we can channel that into the national coffers, I think we will not go for loans.

Anti-corruption measure No. 1: President Mahama and wife should publicly publish assets - to set an example to other politicians: and enable him occupy the high moral ground in Ghanaian politics.

No. 2: Government must cease all public-procurement sole-sourcing - and stick religiously to allowing different companies to bid for all such contracts.

No. 3: Explain clearly to Ghanaians why a service GCNet was apparently performing at no cost to Ghana is now being provided for zillions of cedis by West Blue - and why that company should continue to charge Ghana the same amount for the work it now does, in light of the aforementioned.

No. 4: Pay whistleblowers who provide information that leads to the exposure of bribes received by high-level appointees a percentage of all such recovered sums - and recieve automatic promotion at work.

May God bless our homeland Ghana - and protect and guide all the members of our nation's political class.
