Simple. They have decided to keep the hydro portion of our energy mix solely under the state control like it has been recorded for decades now and instead negotiate a partnership with the private entity out there over our ever-growing thermal resources and that they feel needs a separate body or branch under the banner of the same VRA to deal with that portfolio effectively. That's the whole gig. How effective will that be, commands some wait and see attitude from us all.

Whoever taught you to insult every Ghanaian who doesn't agree with you has done you more harm than good I don't know if that is how you people were brought up or its a political strategy then in which ever way you have failed and rather made yourselves stooges. Respect is earned not a force hence ndc bringing the title honorable to give them respect has also failed. From Dr Nkrumah to Dr Limann no minister, mp, assemblyman or whatever was called honorable only ndc, they always talk about respect forgetting it is something you need to work on to get. They insult others but do not want to be insulted and cry some people are disrespectful but how do I respect you if you don't respect yourself and that is ndc for you.

The DIVIDE AND CONQUER old adage is as strong as ever. Because VRA abd ECG's setup is tough to privatize, new ways are being dreamt up to make it easier to CHOP US. BLINDLY.

VRA should remain the same. But create new departments (not ministries) to generate energy from a variety of sources. We can have Hydro Department, Windmill Department, Solar Department, etc, all under VRA.
The advantage to Ghana is that we'll use current assets abd exoerienced workers to negotiate better loan terms/deals rather than new entities with no experienced workers or assets.

What is the rush? Why should Ghana be part of any African Powerhouse? What's in for us? Who controls such poerhouse?

Care must be taken before we sell off everything we have before the next elections!

VRA can be viable if it is publicly listed, with the state taking less controlling stake. The problem is not who produces hydro or thermal. How about solar and wind? And others yet unknown?

How is privatisation going to solve this conundrum? Remember, to the Ghanaian business and consumer, oil and gas will always be expensive products to import for a thermal plant.

why not explore the solar industry as well as wind, as part of our energy mix. So as to create jobs for the thousands of unemployed youth, rather than splitting the already exiting organizations that provides livelihood for thousands of Ghanaians and their dependants.
these are visionless group of people who can't think outside the box.
the wonton sale of our state assets will take us no where.

Yes, the organisations will need to be managed much better than VRA is now. The thermal plants will have to be configured to utilise gas which is 20% cheaper than petroleum. The entire energy sector needs co-ordination to remove bottlenecks and ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the sector.

Dumso is quite unnecessary. With a bit of thought and proper planning, we can do away with it for good.
