If government does not see the necessity to negotiate with the Ghanaian doctors it shows how doom and wicked it is. What is good for the Cubans must also be good for Ghanaians professionals. The sad thing is that, the government has sworn an oath to the people, but it has failed completely. The better Ghana Agenda indeed.

We have everything. We have a nice climate, beautiful environment, excellent fauna and flora, abundant natural resources, intelligent people, more than our fair share of beautiful women, the best food in the world and well, I must admit, more than our fair share of the dumbest and most idiotic politicians in the world.
It is these idiots - they call themselves politicians, that are hopeless and who are against the will of nature, ruining the country and making it appear that it is a failed and hopeless country. They will not succeed if we prevent them from taking us to that miserable destination. And it is our bounden duty to resist with all possible means at our disposal.
Now a few corrections.
I can assure you that after having trained hundreds of Black Ghanaian doctors over several decades, dont you think that Cuba, which also has a large Black population including its own doctors, will allow Ghanaian doctors to practice there in the unlikely event that they will need their assistance?
I cannot say the same for Israel, but suffice it to say that a casual look at how Israel treats people of other racial backgrounds even within their own region, should tell us that Israel will and can never employ a Ghanaian - or to be precise, a Blackman as a coach of their national team.
Even in our paltry near-collapse economic conditions, we the people of Ghana need our doctors - and badly. I am sure that given the option to choose between the two, even a madman would rather choose a doctor as a more useful citizen than a Ghanaian politician. The bottom line is that, by their own conduct, our politicians have lost all credibility and public respect.
I also believe that if an opinion poll were to be taken on the subject, politicians would rank fairly close to armed-robbers, drug-dealers, the police and Customs officers as one of the most despicable and disliked group of people in this country. It is a damned shame that in Ghana, politics seems to have now become the past-time of scoundrels, shameless womanizers and common mongrels.

But then it's your right and choice in a free world. This is how we know the children of God and those of the devil. What shall it profit them if they win the fight but our fellow countrymen lose their lives? Will they enjoy their gain? If they will then it's a shame.

You can not blame anyone for this but the doctors themselves. Let the Cubans come and save the day like they have always done out of passion and humanity and let our own doctors we have paid and toiled to educate go to America and elsewhere to beg to clean dishes since they will not get 1/2 of the kingship they enjoy here.

Those who are are calling for Cuban doctors are the very ones who seem not to have any respect for or think very highly of Cuban doctors.
Cuban doctors are sent by their socialist govt to many countries all over the world - mostly delusional capitalist oriented ones, to help the plight of mainly poor people wherever they go. Cuban doctors are not meant to be used as a smoke-screen for corrupt and incompetent govts.
Again, such weak-minded people must be made to understand that it cannot be possible to get as many Cuban doctors as can take the place of even one-third of the number of existing Ghanaian doctors, should our doctors make true their threat to resign en bloc.
As for Alex, he must be about 16 years old, or, if by any chance he is older than that, then he must be severely retarded to think and say the kinds of things he is saying above. However in spite of his pathetic disability, he has sufficiently stimulated me to appropriately react to some of these moronic view-points that many Ghanaians who do not quite know what time of the day it is, harbor.

Also from what I understand the Cubans tend to be more expensive in terms of total package than Ghanaian doctors, considering they have the language difficulties therefore, risk of misdiagnosing illnesses.
I still don't understand why the government does not sit down with these doctors to negotiate -- these empty threats from government obviously is not working. My concern is for the sick and so hope some consensus would be reached soon.

Using job requirements is a better when determining labor cost. Even if you consider the free training, I would argue that many of the doctors especially the senior doctors have already paid their dues.

They were trained with resources of their country and so ought to be paid higher. In Ghana, the state has a hand in the education of the doctor right from the primary to the medical school and this account for they not being paid as the expat Cuban doctors.I guess the doctors are becoming nervous!

I want them to know that they were born into this world intellectually gifted. Society also paved the way for them to get to where they are . This is how they are paying their people back. 100 gallons of fuel per month is one of their demands. I am sure they know the government cannot meet that. Imagine Haruna Iddrisu or Alex Segbefia collecting conditions of service in this country, and for what exactly?
It is fellow Ghanaians I pity because by now, there should have been a great demonstration against the gov't for failing to ensure the healthcare needs of Ghanaians are met in the country of their birth because, the Mahama gov't whilst it collects conditions of service feels by some warped logic, doctors should not have conditions of service because of a Hippocratic oath. Until Ghanaians rise up and demand of the gov't to see the doctors in the consulting room, the nonsense will continue. No doctor is under any compulsion to work for an employer who cannot provide conditions of service, but the Mahama NDC gov't owes it a duty to ensure all Ghanaians and anybody who finds him or herself in this country gets the appropriate healthcare and if it is not forthcoming, you hit the streets and demand it.

I thought you ask for conditions of service at the beginning of your employment so if you have worked without it for some of them more than 20yrs and you can't wait for a few months to get what you have never had on more than 20yrs I guess is a lil harsh. And we keep forgetting I heard some of them saying their being treated like slaves really? I know a doctor who just watched Liberia on tv during the Ebola out break he cried the next day he asked for a month leave and travelled to a country he has never been before nor know anyone there to take care of people for free without taking any salary nor allowance so I sad if I hear these so called doctors who claim their being cheated so their own people must die because of conditions of service n not that their not being paid I feel sad for gh
