In dealing with this matter, the government started off on the wrong foot, by seeking to use intimidation, attacks and insults to turn Ghanaians against the doctors.

It is also a terrible mistake for Mahama to publicly state he is not authorizing any new spending not budgeted. He has been cornered because of that statement, the govt is now afraid to be seen to be going back on its own words. Hence the beating about the bush with this Cuban doctors idea. The govt is now under pressure, and scrambling for any solution that seem plausible.

But frankly the best alternative is to negotiate with the doctors. It will be foolish for the doctors to go back to work at the face of govt insults and intimidation. Nobody will take them serious if they go back to work without getting at least 50% of their requests. They should force them govt to meet them half way. They should not let the govt get away with its stupidity.

I dare the government to disclose the pay package of the Cuban doctors it intends to bring into the country. This will enable the whole country to determine whether the demand of the striking doctors are reasonable or not.

The Cuban Doctors are not Ghanaian. They were not educated in Ghana under the free education system, hence do not compare their salaries to that of Ghanaian Doctors working in Ghana, their own country which educated them.

The reality is that the man put in positing as the minister responsible for our Doctors and other health matters is seen as discredited criminally corrupt who is on record to have engaged in open crime with his notorious associate Carl Wilson against the citizenry as the Deputy Chief of Staff and therefore has no any respect or credibility for his orders to be obeyed by our Doctors, some who felt victims of his diabolical operations from the Castle.

He's a disgrace to be appointed as minister of state in the first place and Mahama should have known that to appoint him to such national sensitive position.

The hard stands taking on the Doctors issue clearly indicates that the minister like his boss are not listening leaders and not exhibited maturity at all with the expertise to deal with matters of such magnitude nature, dealing with highly intellectual brains.

These doctors are hanging unto in-patients as a means of hanging unto their salaries and bungalows. If they don't like their earnings then they may not like their in-patients either.

This puts the in-patients at risk.

Government must therefore terminate the striking doctors now OR prosecute them for suspicious changes in the conditions of their in-patients.

Families can also prosecute striking doctors and government for any suspicious changes in the health conditions of their relatives on admission.

The doctors don't need their government salary. They are making it in the private sector. The government will be spinning alot of negative press against the doctors but it's the government that doesn't want to negotiate...and did not negotiate in good faith to begin with.

Doctors may go back to work eventually but that is not because of the government's tactics but because as a profession, they have mercy on the sick and poor and won't want to see people not treated. The politicians, they have no heart. They don't care about the poor but staying in power, eating the fat from the land, and playing politics.

I will be sad if the doctors go back without getting at least half of what they asked for. I know NDC is counting on using insults to intimidate them into returning to work. But I think the doctors should be resolute.

In fact Government must begun to deduct from their salary the money spend on them during their training.We know the difference between the actual cost of medical education per year in Ghana and what they paid when they were in medical school.

Instead of governments expanding our educational institutions to train more doctors in the system, they rather send their relatives to Cuba. Mention any outstanding person on the international stage that is a cuban that you take our people there. The Ghanaian doctors are laughing bcos they know the maximum government can do is to bring in cuban doctors who they are far ahead of in the profession.

The Cuban doctors were train for the Cuban market and some to earn the country money since the govt pay the Cuban doctors and still pay some money to the Cuban govt to support their economy. Just like Ghana export cocoa to make some foreign curreny so do the Cuban govt export their doctors to make foreign currency. Unfortunately their training is not comparable to the training the Ghanaian doctor gets and they are not familiar with a lot of our diseases yet our govt is willing to pay them more money.

Ghanaians are fond of uninformed speculation. The Cuban doctors coming to save the lives of Ghanaian patients abandoned by doctors their taxes supported in training, deserve to be paid better than the striking Ghanaian doctors. American and European doctors who work in Saudi Arabia are paid better than Saudi-trained doctors. Expatriate professionals are typically paid better than local one because of their excess expenses. They have to take care of their families back in their home country.

The Cuban doctors were trained at the expense of the Cuban people, not the people of Ghana. They have families to support in Cuba. Cuba currently has 80,000 trained doctors; 30,000 are working at home in Cuba, and 50,000 are abroad helping many developing countries meet their severe shortage of doctors.

Of course some performance barriers are expected whenever any medical professionals are introduced into a new environment and culture. However, Cuban doctors have a great reputation as some of the best trained in the developing world. They are coming to Ghana to help. They will do their best to treat the sick and save the dying while Dr. Opoku Adusei and his GMA gang of greedy, pompous, doctors sit and criticize them.

It is amazing that the GMA has not already been declared illegal to represent government employed doctors already. Let the government fire them all, and let those who seek to reapply sign a statement promising never to strike again. All the fired doctors can join their private doctor colleagues in the GMA; they will discover that most of their government subsidized patients cannot afford to pay them their ridiculous allowances in their private practices. Enough is enough!!
