But I do believe that while the govt and its gullible followers will be gloating. Officials will quietly settle the doctors behind the scene, in order to prevent a repeat. In the long run the doctors will get what they want.

Going back to the table has always been a better option. You cant get unilimited conditions of service. No body gets that. It costs about $150,000 to obtain medical degree in the USA. It cost you nothing.

The glorified MFS are now rushing to get their paychecks and remain in government bungalows. They don't want their rear-ends to be on the streets, and now,they don't want to lose their jobs.They have seen Cuban doctors arriving and newly minted Ghanaian doctors ready to take positions in the hospitals.The NPP directed leadership had its back against the wall,thus the speed with which it threw down the towel.

It wasn't because of the entreaties by the chiefs and "religious" folks that forced these MFS to go back to work - but reality on the ground.

Now,can they bring back to life the 500 poor Ghanaians who died during the period of this stupid,unpatriotic and selfish strike? Ironically,the hard work,sweat and pain of the dead paid for these folks' training.

The government should stop being weak as it demonstrated at the beginning of the strike.The doctors broke the the law and the Hippocratic Oath by refusing to go back to work.The fools who declined to fulfil their obligations should have been fired on the spot.They should not have been cuddled and put on a pedestal.

The tragic and unwarranted deaths due to the strike MUST never be repeated.The perennial strikes by these doctors must be stopped once and for all.If they strike again next year,the government MUST terminate them,kick their rear-ends to the street - and never hire them again.

If you've through our public universities will not say that ; yo okay for your upkeep, books ,accommodations ,transportation etc. Remember medical students spend more time in school ( whilst other students are on vacations, they remain in campus!) . Please don't compare the systems in the U.S. to Ghana! - vast difference between apple & oranges!!!

Docs in the U.S. don't go on strike; you know why? They've conditions of service , and well remunerated !

You also don't know how much some of them were raking in from their private clinics. They were not broke because they planned for their action. As at now, it is the responsibility of the government to do the right thing at thee right time. The many allowances that other government employees enjoy even when they are not making profits need to end. Raise in salary should depend on a company and one's performance. I wish Mahama could do like Buhari and cut down allownces and perks of government appointees. The number of government appointees' vehicles need to be cut as Buhari did. There is too much waste in the system.

I just pray that the government puts away selfish desires and reach an agreement with the doctors to prevent future incidents. Let's learn from our past.

At best, they must forfeit the salaries for the days they have put their working gears and equipment down. The number of people who have died as a result of their negligence and absence from duty must be used to sue them in any court of competent jurisdiction. It is high time labour agitations and its antecedent consequences must be dealt with severely. Every labour facet of the country is as important as these Doctors. I applaud and duff my hat for the President, Labour and Health Ministers for holding their lines. Congratulations gentle men and to GMA, God will hold it against you for the unnecessary lost of lives. I have lost some friends through Doctors and Health workers agitations and dereliction of duty. Nobody sues and they continue to do these bad working ethics in the face of Ghanaians, they should go ahead.The country where I live and work, you can't do that if you call yourself essential service provider. These are the indiscipline issues we have as a country. We cant move forward and let us not compare ourselves to the westerners because they do not do these kinds of things. The Ghanaian public medical doctors have shocked me by bungling their negotiations through stupidity and lack of common sense. Instead of advancing convincing arguments to the general public why they deserve their proposed conditions of service, they rather resorted to silly talks such as "we did not swear the oath of poverty and servitude". But who in the public service has sworn the oath of poverty and servitude? Such kind of talk makes the GMA lose public sympathy and solidarity and rather turn their sympathy to the government and rightly so. Until the GMA dismount from that high horse and stupid display of arrogance they will continue to lose respect among ordinary Ghanaians.What is more humiliating than eating back your threat of mass resignation and going back to work without your conditions being met? The GMA should learn that doctors are not God,consequently that misguided puerile temper tantrums must give way to maturity,prudence and common sense. I never thought the GMA could be that low-minded.
