In fact there are so many jobs in Ghana and especially Ashanti region. But most Ghanaians and especially the Graduates are so indolent and completely useless when it comes to work.
Recently we had to employ Malawians and Togoless for jobs in Kumasi because all the 15 graduates who were hired in Kumasi were so lazy and lacking in employment skills.
They have no concept of self-control self management. Nothing!
As a Ghanaian I was ashamed.

This week our top job offer is for 10 people to do QC/QA tests on the usage og generators and CO2 monitoring. We to 20. We are half-way through the training and there only 7 people left. 2 of them from Nigeria and 1 from Cameroun.
Where are the rest? They took the initial allowance of $50.00 and vanished.
Oh and one Girl came to our hotel to ask for Visa to the US.

Once upon time, I was in a position to hire others, but not anymore. Currently, I have one person I can depend on to help someone if at all possible. This person has told me repeatedly, how difficult it was to get people into positions they needed to fill. This was when he was the Managing Director of a Quasi-govt company.
When a graduate is applying for a management-trainee position, one expects some basics. This friend is saddened by the quality of graduants he used to interview. I am talking interviewing ten people before finding one who is half-way decent.
What Kofi Ansah is putting out here is not that unusual. He is probably speaking from experience.
Having said that I am almost certain that some of these graduates can find jobs if they know how to go about it.
I have sent word to Kofi Akomaning. He sounds like one I can assist. I'll see if he responds.

This is one of the areas Ghana needs. Today many Ghanaians study Law and political science so that they can go to parliament and become corrupt as ministers of today and yesterday.
There is nothing wrong to study law/political science but that is not what Ghana needs now.
Ghana is an agricultural land and we need scientific way of farming so that we become a nation of exporters and not importers of those rubbish from China.

The government should make the environment conducive for the private sector to create jobs. Also, since NDC came to power, they have messed up everything including the erratic power situation. How do the private sector create jobs without electricity? Even those that are trying to hold on have fold their mats so, who is at fault here? Government cannot hire all graduates but rather the private sector. Also, our educational system should be devised in such a way that it teaches students hands-on, whereby after school, the graduates can become self proprietors. The old system where we expect the government to hire us should be a thing of the past.

To say that will mean they are the only government we have had since independence. That not withstanding they are in power and so are partly responsible. It does not mean when they leave power, they will no longer be responsible since the will assume the role of viable alternative. Our collective lack of foresight and a comprehensive development strategy with achievable goals is the main issue. Again, we have a population and businesses who lack for sight and vision. The sad thing is most of these businesses have executives who frequent the advance nations every now and then, yet they are unable to learn the innovative ways of doing business. We only have corrupt taking executives!Why can't businessman see the power crisis as a business opportunity to invest in? At least for their own business? As for that graduate, he needs to look deeper and further to realise that there can be easy businesses to set up, but will take time to flourish, become vibrant and would involve getting in contact with dirtiest of dirts.

I wouldn't hire this Environmental Scientist only because of the way he forced the situation. He may very well be qualified for the job you are looking to fill, and may surprise you.
If this gentleman ever finds his way to you, please give him a chance.
$200 allowance during training is good money. It beats sitting home and mooching off of parents and other relatives. Besides, let us not forget that the Nationsl Service allowance, until recently was pegged at GHS 350.00.
Those who are not in your position, may have lofty ideas, and may continue to call you names. Hang in there. Some of us understand.
