If we are talking about age limit for people working around the president then NPP would have to get rid of almost its leaders who are all old people over 65 years old but still in active politics including the party leader.

We, as Africans, should think hard and far to do or adjust things to suit us in our quest for political, economic and technological development. We don't have to follow BLINDLY and keep saying that's the way it is or it's in the constitution. People wrote the damn constitution and people can change or amend it.

**Why retire people at 65 in the 21st century, while politicians, some 70 and above, still govern?** In the western world people work as long as they are healthy—except to collect state supported benefits.

Here are some facts:

1) John aka Mr. BOBO aka White man designed this retiring age and many other things in Africa during the colonial rule. The "life expectancy" in those days was far lower than today and so John didn't want to bury many white folks in hot Africa and that's WHY THEY SET THE RETIRING AGE AT 60. They set it for themselves, but the last time I checked, the white man had been gone since 1957—some 58 years ago.

Today, people live longer because of the relatively good sanitation, hygiene, hospitals, drugs, exercise, proper eating, etc., etc., so WHY NOT ADJUST THE RETIRING AGE to say 70 years?

2) Why do we have octogenarian politicians still in vogue (style) and practicing their craft as leaders?

3) Why do we have traditional leaders (chiefs) and their divisional chiefs—some as old as Methuselah—still ruling people in towns and cities? Can we retire them, Negro?

4) What about the old members of the Council of State, who have sense enough to ADVISE the President on important national and international issues? Are all these old folks SMARTER than 60-year old teachers, doctors and civil servants?

If competence, intelligence, honesty, integrity, vigor and sense of duty are functions of numerical age, then several politicians, traditional leaders, church leaders, family elders and many others should be RETIRED alongside with the 60 and 65 years olds civil servants.

**Our leaders should ADJUST the retirement age upwards and do away with Mr. BOBO's colonial legacy. And, o should we do away with FREE bungalows, garden boys, cooks, etc., for Ghanaian officials?** They were all designed for the comfort of the colonial masters and NOT FOR the Africans. WAKE UP, Negro, to the new reality and change STATIC and ANTIQUATED legacies of Mr. BOBO, as we go along.

As for retirement, it is in backward Ghana where people are forced to retire whether they are ready or not. In the advanced countries retirement benefits are paid out after you reach a certain age, but the age you retire is your individual decision and up to you. If you can keep working and perform your duties as required, and have no health issues till you are 70 you continue. Sacking people because of their age is a punishable offense in the advanced countries called age discrimination.

As for youth not getting jobs that is not the fault of the older workers, that is the fault of the government in not improving the economy and job creation.

This compulsory retirement thing was introduced by the British during the colonial era, they no longer practice it. Why? Because british citizens were simply moving to Canada, US etc and continuing their work and doing good things in those countries that the british government realized that they were actually doing themselves a bad service by sacking such highly skilled and very experienced workers.

But in Ghana we are still doing colonial things 58 years later. Twea. No wonder Ghana does not progress.

The over 65s being kept in posts is not because they are indispensable, it is simply because of corruption. Part of their pay go to those employing them. This is why we would never develop.

It does not appeal to common sense to do away with over 5 hundred years of experience just to get staff for MMDAs Depth of Agric. It is important the national security is brought in to investigate matters of transfers in MoFA especially those affecting the 21 Directors transferred to LGS. Finally Kyoto Milly Boamah must be made to leave the PPRSD immediately and the seasoned officers transferred brought back to manage the place for the good of mother Ghana.
