It is a pity that the NPP/NDC Brotherhood of Nincompoops on Ghanaweb is trying to politicise this grave issue, just as they did with the Woyome case and spoiling it.

The attempt by the NPP thugs to taint the NDC with the corrupt actions of these judges is simply unwholesome. Everyone knows how hostile the judiciary and the judges were/are towards the PNDC and then the NDC. Using frivolous "technical" reasons, they had always thrown out corruption cases brought by the Mills regime against NPP appointees. Now we know why. This attempt to taint the NDC alone puts the NDC people on the defensive and the govt might fail again to cooperate to do the right thing, just as happened under the Woyome case.

And the attempt of some stupid NDC supporters to brush this aside as NPP machinations is so pathetic that we have to grade them as morons in their thinking! That's not the way to fend off the NPP attacks. After all, the judiciary is supposedly independent of even the Executive, not to mention the NDC party.

These judges and the bribe giving lawyers have always been corrupt. Those of us who have been suffering in their hands know that. Because we have refused to bribe in the Awoamefia succession dispute, from the VR Regional House of Chiefs to the Fast Track Court in Accra, that straight forward case is being tossed about for years! Missing case folders, missing directives from the CJ, dubious judgements, deadly police cum army and national security interventions etc., etc. The case that disgraced thief Woanya of the Denu High Court handled had to end up in the SC before sanity and justice prevailed, with the justices expressing shame about how the case was handled.

1) Now, the CJ MUST on no account accept the resignation of any of them so that they can retire on their entitlements. No way!

2) They must all be criminally investigated by the Police, sacked, prosecuted and jailed. No committee should ever be set up to investigate them so that they could be set free on "const'nal" grounds. If the Judges could sentence an SSS student who mugged someone for a phone to 20 years imprisonment, "in hard labour", then these bastards must be made to fall on their own swords!

I have been planning to write an article on how lawyers/judges are the bane of Ghana's corrupt society, as a follow-up to Dr SAS enamourment (deep love affair) with the legal profession, always extolling it to others with even more productive professions than these leeches. I took him on and was going to write a longer piece on what I know as most corrupt and egregious about the lawyers and judges in Ghana. Now, the cat is out of the proverbial bag, and its got long whiskers!

The NDC party and John Mahama cannot runaway from this canker of corruption as the evidence suggests.
This is the institutionalization of corruption by the John Mahama NDC gov't, which has claimed one of the pillars of any democracy and a very important one at that, the Judiciary, and John Mahama's NDC gov't and this level of corruption in the judiciary is inseparable.
How is it even possible for Woyome to be free if not for corruption? We need to call a spade a spade and not this childish attempt at rationalization of this evidence of NDC-fueled corruption.
The reality is the sickening canker of corruption of the Mahama NDC gov't has overtaken the Judiciary and that is the hard, in your face facts, take it or leave it.
Ghana is under siege by a front loaded John Mahama NDC gov't policy of outrageous corruption and the evidence shows the Judiciary has been swept by this tsunami of John Mahama NDC policy of corruption.
The Woyome thievery involving the John Mahama NDC gov't had it's origins in corruption and not the law, and the judicial process that led to him walking free with Ghana's money which by the way was shared amongst the Mahama NDC gov't had it's origins again in corruption, and not the law.
One cannot absolve the NDC gov't of the stratospheric levels of corruption and calling it out for what it is, is not politicization of the issue.
This is a spill-over of the John Mahama-led NDC gov't tsunami of unbridled corruption that has claimed the Judiciary, plain and simple.

If anyone has institutionalised corruption in recent decades, no one deserves that accolade more than Kufuor. Of course, corruption in the judiciary predates the Kufour regime. Mahama, just like Mills before him, is just riding the waves like a sleep walker. And, as you know, when waves near the coastline, they get bigger! That's why I had warned Mahama years back to do something about the rampant corruption in the country even before he took office.

This is a bit of what I wrote in my Staying in the Frying Pan article posted in Dec. 2012.

"And if his actions in response to reported cases of abuse of office since being sworn in as President were not just knee-jerk reactions and gimmicks in the heat of the elections, then we hope to see a more serious handling of the endemic corruption and lawlessness in and under the outgoing regime. Even though he was an integral part of the outgoing regime, we are aware that he was at the receiving end of the barbs of the “babies with sharp teeth,” and the “evil dwarfs” were closing in on him too, and so should know what was unwholesome in the previous regime. At least, one garrulous kingpin, Koku Anyidoho, has since publicly confessed a new found humility since JM assumed the Presidency.

Of course, having shown us that he also knew how to bring the pork home to his own people through the almost total amassing of those scholarships to study abroad for candidates from northern Ghana, some of them clearly unjustified - whatever is the porous justification - his hands are not so clean. For, some of us are not going to rest on our oars in combating the lawlessness and the corruption that has become characteristic of our body politic. President Mahama should therefore not expect a rosy time in office if he expects business to continue as usual once he is sworn in. And sworn in, he’d be, whatever the NPP does. I hope they (NPPians) have not become delusional like my ex-Nkrumahist comrades.

Just like many people who will be presenting their Christmas lists and New Year wishes to President Mahama, I would like to present him with my own list. I don’t have any hamper for him. It was a tough year [here in the UK] so I have instituted an austerity.

Paramount to me is the need to curb drastically the endemic corruption and lawlessness in the country. I had already sent out an open letter to him on a more personal issue which is awaiting attention. I certainly therefore do not expect him to allow the continuation of the use of the Police by one side in a dispute, whether it is a chieftaincy or debt fracas, to harass and abuse the freedom and rights of the other party. And I certainly do not expect the Police, the Customs and Excise personnel and public officials, to continue the graft they presently indulge in with reckless abandon without taking any punitive action against the recalcitrant elements on the public’s payroll."
