As usual with the Ghanaian he would deny but I think that should not end it. Forensic investigation should go into the allegation to reach valid conclusion and appropriate action taken to cleanse whatever mess has been created. Ghana is touted as beacon of democracy in Africa but in respect of the fact that some big shots get away free with crimes and the down trodden are sent to jail whilst in some African countries less known of democracy rule of law is upheld, I am not able to see Ghana, my beloved country as democratic. An Agriculture minister in Egypt has been made to resign and is to face prosecution. In Zambia, a couple of years back, a minister was jailed for issuing dud cheque. In either Liberia or Sierra Leone, a personality next to the head of state was arrested for an assault charge. Can any of this happen in Ghana? How Markins's case would end, we need no psychologist or social scientist to predict. I would be glad to be proved wrong.

I agree, forensic tests should be conducted to establish the truth once & for all. I won't be surprised if it's true, as it seems the whole legal profession is riddled with corruption. Gh is in trouble.

Blay is one of the most corrupting influences to have joined the NPP. He was a key player in the visa racket that was operating from the Castle that hit the Kufuor regime. Bamba was sacrificed to save teh others.

If they are still so corrupt in opposition, just imagine what they'd be like in govt again! We are toast b/n these two monstrous parties: the NDC and NPP!

Ghanaian Journalists are not helping the fight against corruption at all. A case of this nature would have been reported to the BNI and the leaked tapes handed over to them. But, as usual this case will be played in a political chess game by journalists and not treated as criminal and when another scandal occurs somewhere then we move on. Afenyo Markins would have been in FBI hands if he were to have interfered with the Security Exchange Commission or elsewhere. In Ghana, the Police would like everything to be officially reported to them before they swing into action. And even if they do, they are also looking at how to accept bribe. This case, if it is true will sink Afenyo Markins. If the case had involved American Companies, there is no doubt that the FBI would have put pressure on their Ghanaian counterparts and government to have Afenyo Markins arrested and possibly face prosecution but this is Ghana.

KINGSTON –– Canadian-based Timeless Herbal Care Limited (THC) announced Saturday it had secured a US$100 million deal to develop medical marijuana products in Jamaica for the international market.

Courtney Betty, the Jamaican Canadian who heads THC, did not go into great detail, but said the deal would create job opportunities for many Jamaicans. He said the deal was buttressed by the decision of the Jamaican government to decriminalize ganja for medicinal purposes.

Betty used the opportunity in a speech at an Association of Consultants and Physicians of Jamaica (ACPJ) reception and banquet, held at the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel in New Kingston, to urge physicians and private sector businesses to get on board with medical marijuana treatment, saying Jamaica was destined to become a hub for investment in medical marijuana.

“This is not about smoking marijuana, but it is about developing medical products that will be able to help patients,” said the president and CEO of Timeless Herbal Care, a nutraceutical pharmaceutical company that produces medical marijuana products.

“It really is about private corporations and businesses, and our expectation is that there will be many companies that will start coming to Jamaica looking to invest because of the tremendous intellectual property and resources that sit here at the University of the West Indies.”

A high point of the ACPJ banquet was the honouring of its past president and consultant neurologist Dr Amza Ali and Dr Hafeezul Mohammed, outstanding cardiologist, internist and consultant physician.

Ali was trained in neurology at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, Queen Square, London, and is specially certified in neurology by the Federation of Royal Colleges of Physicians of the United Kingdom and the Association of British Neurologists.

“Being honoured by one’s peers is an amazing thing. It gives you a sense of validation that can’t come from anything else, because it means other people that you respect, respect what you are doing,” Ali said in his response.

If you're taking bribes over smelly deals in opposition then what alternative do you bring to the NDC? In fact, the in through all their underhand dealings with the ADB sale have just admitted that the NDC are lesser thieves than they are.

My advice to many of these 'baby-politicians' is to make haste slowly!
Most of them,[recall Vicky Hammer?], plagued with indecent haste, naively believe they can take on and conquer the world; but as events have clearly demonstrated, they appear to be biting more than they can chew at a go! I feel sorry for many of them.
