The figures do not add up. 34,000 cedis was paid, the accused refunded 5,000 cedis so how come 40,000 cedis is bring refered to as the outstanding amount? If this is the amount stated on the charge sheet then he could escap ...

The figures do not add up. 34,000 cedis was paid, the accused refunded 5,000 cedis so how come 40,000 cedis is bring refered to as the outstanding amount? If this is the amount stated on the charge sheet then he could escape the justice net because of the factual errors stated. If the man never took 40,000 cedis then he cannot be required to answer for that. The law will not allow you to charge him for an amount he never took. This boils down to either a poor dating of the particulars of offence or poor journalistic reporting of the case.
