If you work for reputable company in Europe/America if you receive a gift from a company that does business with your company it is bribery and you can be sacked. Bribery comes in many forms but they are all corruption.
A government official was arrested for accepting a bribe from a contractor. A friend who went to visit him in the lock-up asked, "How are you going to get out of this mess?"

In the early 70' there these two sentences in govt. offices.
1. Don't accept gifts. They corrupt.
2. Don't give gifts. They are bribes.
Are these statements and injunctions not true to the letter?

We recieve gifts for a good deed or as a thank you for favour. Why should a judge favour a murderer thief or rapist . Such gifts should readily be seen as bribes.

I gave a present to a German teacher who taught my daughter: she politely rejected it. She did not even hold it in her hand. She told me they are forbidden to receive presents from parents.
That's right, because it was perceived as bribing on behalf of for your child. As this to be treated differently or exceptionally by that teacher..

As a matter of urgency, it MUST be made a law that public officials MUST not accept gifts of any kind.
