Is it not because of irresponsible parents that we will institute such programs to take care of the kids,are they going to ask parents who have money to be paying the fees while they cater for the poor ones?

Sometimes I feel sad for this president if his appointees make such comments,this is not different from "I will not give chalk today or tomorrow" speech,I hope she was misquoted.

In 2012, Prez Mahama told Ghanaians that free SHS is impossible in Ghana and that quality education must come first before free SHS. Today, with a whole Prof of education as minister of education, we have less than 30% of SHS graduates passing Mathematics and Integrated Science respectively and so the NDC seeing this as a great feat they have chalked they are now moving on to implement free education. What an achievement.

"Private legal practitioner, Samson Lardy Anyenini late last year brought a suit on behalf of the leaders and against the Chieftaincy Minister whom they alleged had supported one Osofo to mistreat them using national security.

The Osofo was named in the suit as claiming right to the symbolic stool and skin created by the national house of chiefs to reintegrate disaporians.

Samson says that suit was withdrawn earlier this year after the Attorney-General (A-G) called for an amicable settlement."
The question is if the government has declared the status of the Afro Americans as an illegality, why did the Attorney General beg that the issue should be withdrawn from court. The answer is simple. Withdraw the case, kill the Afro Americans and case die.

The same holds for child support from the state: if your parents are well to do, you will not get help from the state. Your parents care for you.

The fact is there is nothing like a irresponsible parent as every parent wish his/her child to do well and even perform better and above the parent.

Such official unguided statements from people in authority is disgusting and utterly outrageous and must be discouraged as we expect our leaders to use their heads instead of being politically emotional.

Mum, think and think deep before you talk as our people are suffering, probably you are lucky to be in a position to afford to care for your children but I know how parents in Ghana today struggle together with their children to make end meet by selling all kinds of things including news papers, chewing sticks, ice water, oranges and many more things by the road sides to make up for the child's education.

Child prostitution and school failures are unprecedented under your watch and that should be your areas of concern as minister responsible for education.

If the Government has anyway of proving any Parent has been irresponsibly neglecting his or her child, failing to pay for the child's Education, even though the Parent is resourceful enough, the Government SHOULD NOT react in anyway to continue to deny the child Education, but rather implement swift and effective measures to punish the Parent while ensuring the child still gets the Education needed.

We should not dump the dirty bathwater along with the child. The child's innocence must be preserved and protected so that he or she does not get punished for the irresponsible Parent's negligence.

That is the only way we could ensure all Children get the Education they all deserve. We have to give the children every chance to grow successfully, in spite of their Parents' faults.

I cannot understand why in a country like Ghana, free HS education has to be for some and not all. By the way, what is the criteria for being irresponsible? What are the means to determine that one is able to take care of a child? I tell you, Ndc will use this clause to deny all opposition members the so called free education. Already, it is an open secret in Ghana that those who are well to do either send their kids abroad or to private institutions. In my own opinion, any parent who sends his or her child to a gvt school is not well to do financially. Based on this assertion, I am of the view that all children (especially those in gvt institutions) must enjoy this Free Education.
Does the free education in the North differentiate the poor from the well to do? Or do we have anything like Irresponsible parents in the North?
Is the gvt using this rule to punish the parent or help the child whose parents don't care about education?
Let's use wisdom to deal with matters in our nation. Give all children equal opportunity because we never know who will become who tomorrow.

Some of our ministers today from the North who enjoyed free education also had wealthy parents. However, that did not attenuate the influx of rich kids enjoying free education in the north.

You have just waved the school fees of the Day Students and added it to the Students in the Boarding Schools. My ward last term paid GH400 but now in the boarding he paying GH850.00 for a term. Where is the free education? This is completely cheating. Start packing you are leaving at the end of 2016 December. January 7, 2017 Ghanians want a better President.
