A regional Airport for all the regions is not a bad idea if we have the financial capability to do that to enhance air travel to ease the congestions on our roads if there is enough passengers to patronize these airports.

Despite Ho being the regional capital, I think this airport should be built at Aflao. How many people travel to Ho on Daily basis?

I know a lot of buses travel to Aflao from Kumasi on daily basis in addition to hundreds from Accra alone which would have shortened the time of travelling for them but I think the well to do ones can still use it to Ho then to Dzodze or Aflao and other areas in the south.

Anyway,this just a picture,even the contractor has not started clearing the place yet.

As you said, there are many buses that travel from Kumasi with people from Ashanti and Brong Ahafo travelling to Aflao to cross the border to Togo and an Airport there will make a perfect sense to me than Ho.

I didn't even comment on the picture but now that you are talking about it, the picture says Ho Aerodrome and not an Airport.

There is only one international Airport in Ghana and that is in Accra. How many planes fly from Ghana to Togo? I bet none. Do you know the reason? Ask Corney, he is an Aviation expert and will explain it better. You cannot just fly from Ghana to Togo despite the walking distance from Lome to Aflao and secondly, what airline operating in Ghana has the license to fly internationally?

Kwame Nkrumah promised the people of Koforidua that if they vote for him, he will built an airport, knowing that not many people can afford to fly from Koforidua to Accra even if an airport was built there. Besides, Koforidua through Akwapim to Accra is only 55 miles. For now, what we need are good roads. I rromise you that after election, nothing will be heard about the consruction of Ho airport again.

Having said that,I can say from the bottom of my heart that there is no airport in Ho,this picture I believe strongly is just the drawing they put here edited to look like they have built airport in Ho,it is not true,this is another failed journalism.

I left Ghana late June and as at that time the place was still in the bush not even a dirt road passing through and I know for sure this cannot be done in two months and as I believe,I just called Ho and I can say there is nothing like tnis in Ho.

A ‘ghost airport’ in Spain which cost €1bn to build has been sold at a bankruptcy auction for €10,000.

Ciudad Real’s La Mancha airport, also known as Don Quixote airport, opened in 2008. It opened to international flights in 2010 but went bankrupt and closed in 2012 after it failed to attract interest from airlines. The site has lain abandoned since.

Spanish news outlet Europa Press reports that this week the airport has invited bids at a bankruptcy auction - but so far they have only received one.

Please Mr. President, whilst it is a good idea to construct an airport in the Volta Region, in all sincerity, Ho is not the right place for now. I would have thought the airport would be constructed at Aflao given the number of commuters to Aflao on daily basis. This will rather improve business for domestic airlines on that route. I stand to be corrected but how many people travel to Ho to transact business as compared to Aflao on daily basis? Sometimes, some of the opinion leaders in the Volta Region must know how to prioritized developments and ask for the right projects at the right time. I have worked in Wa before and the airport there is not used because it is not an attractive route to domestic airlines though many people travel there.
An airport at Ho is a wonderful idea but economically and commercially, it is not the right time. AFLAO is the best place to site it NOW given the proximity to Keta for future Oil exploration. Please Mr. President, kindly have a second look at this rather too bright idea and let us as a nation prioritized projects based on needs and not pleasing people. I am not saying Ho does not need and airport but for now, it will not be economically prudent. A cocoa processing plant, modern state of the art Teaching hospital, Science, and technological research Universities in Higher Education disciplines (Masters and PhD’s) , Solar farms, Synthetic and herbal drug manufacturing plants and factories, good Hotel facility around Wli Waterfalls with good roads, enhancement of tourist destinations around Ho, Hohoe, and Kpandu before the airport in Ho is a welcome idea for now. Safe water transportation improvement and even a good bridge over the river at Atimpoku is very crucial.
The repair works going on at Atimpoku has resulted in much suffering for travelers and this simple project is taking ages to complete. The road from Asikuma through Hohoe to Nkwanta and beyond is hell to travel on and I expect leaders in the region to be talking about these things and not an airport that would probably not be completed for many years to come. Even if the airport gets completed, it may be taken over by reptiles for some time to come as to me, it is the least needed development as at this time. An Airport at AFLAO for the start is the best decision for me and the rest of the above mentioned projects across the region should not just remain on the drawing board or become plans are far advanced, but should be a reality in the not too distant FUTURE. THANK YOU SIR!!!

Just exactly what is wrong with our President? He delights in sod-cutting spree for projects many of which never commence, some never completed. If the projects being initiated are executed to their completion, it is the nation that has succeeded and credit to him. But the current situation where mere sod-cutting has become synonymous with fulfillment of campaign promises with realization of such projects defies comprehension and logical reasoning. If the President will critically evaluate the status of several projects which sod-cutting ceremonies were amidst pump and pageantry several months ago but are yet to commence or half-completed due to insufficient funding, he will reasonably restrain himself from this unnecessary showmanship. We need and want you to succeed as our President but not just haphazardly. Please ensure there are enough funds to complete initiated projects before embarking on new ones that might not see the light of day.

Why do we want so many people to suffer just because of the comfort of few. How many people even from your rich family can afford air fare from Accra to Ho all the time. Airport for Ho may a good idea but it's of little benefit at this point in time. Kindly advice the President to rethink about this project if you have that opportunity. We cannot continue to waste Ghana's money just because of wanting to win political power.

It's so sad that people from Volta Region have allowed themselves to be abused and misused by politicians for far too long. After several years under Rawlings and NDC, the region is totally messed up than any part in the country. All they need is a promise to build castle in the air for them. NDC has never taken the region seriously except for electoral votes, but the people seem totally incapable of seeing the reality. When the NDC government needed people as guinea pigs for ebola vaccine trials, the region was hurriedly offered. I mean can these people even think at all? They've been turned into NDC robots and inculcated with herd mentality. They think in unison, which is dangerous for every society. Think about the future of your people and stop believing in the fairy tales being fed to you by NDC.

is a good idea but why not the government use all the money he is spending on this and other airports in the country which will eventually become a white elephant on upgrading Kotoka international airport to better world standard international airport in order to lure more international airlines to Ghana.In actual fact Kotoka is the only one we have got but most times when you arrive at Kotoka from western world, you will think you are entering into village eg. travelling from accra to a village in Ghana. the arrival hall, the departure hall are all too small and need massive expansion. all the conveyor are in a delapidated state and are very few thereby making passengers queing for several hours before layng their hands on the laguage. We seem to be a nation of misplaced vision.sometimes i ask myself if we as a nation were not created the same as the western countries.

Airport is necessary but not important currently in Ghana.s situation .What is needed is : Efficient dual highway system for the Eastern Corridor,Western corridor, Northern regions, Rehabilitation of rail infrastructure in Ghana etc . benefits will be huge to all towns and villages, agriculture and movement of people around the country.Ghana is a small country by size the transport problem is due to the lack of efficient road and rail networks. The country's budget must be prioritised. India built modern airports across their country and they have become white elephants. Aviation industry is very expensive to manage. many airports will only benefit politicians. Accra to Kumasi can be done in 90 mins if there is a modern dual highway system in place.We struggle to get cheap yam to Accra due to the poor road network in the Eastern corridor. Politics is what is killing Africa. lets do the first thing s first airports can come later.

Oman Ghana is lacking in many things: electricity, drinking water, health and educational facilities, proper road networks, railways collapsed, huge unemployment etc. We need everything as a country but iunfortunately we cannot get it. Bauxite is trannsorted in trucks from Awaso to takoradi port, how much bauxite can Ghana export.This is due to the collapsed rail networks.drive at night in the western region and see how cocoa, minerals and things are sent to the prot it is an eye sore. Fix all major roads first, railwys, then Kotoka etc. I think Ghana will start to be a much better place. Free and cheaper movement of people, agriculture will boom with cheap food prices, we can export more cocoa, manganese and bauxite and Ghana will start improving. Airports then can start springing up where they are needed. Economics does not lie no matter what you do with money.

The University of Allied Sciences needs so much infrastructure, so many roads in the Volta Region that link the villages to towns and cities need to be improved, there are no industries for jobs in the Volta Regionh, etc, etc, etc... Why do we want to build an airport that will less benefit to the people of Volta at this point in time????. Building airports are good but is it what we need at this time to make Ghana better????. Sod cutting in desperation indeed.

How many people would benefit from a political, tribal, unproductive projects like an international airport in Tamale and a domestic airport in Ho?
There are some wealthy small cities in China which are more richer and developed than the whole of Ghana, but they have no airports.
Ghana should think of constructing effective railway systems in the big cities instead of these white elephant, political and tribal airport projects!
The National Demons Conmen (NDC) is a terrible party to lead Ghana. Anytime they are in power, they send Ghana to HIPC! Because they are corrupt, thieves, incompetent, criminals and liars!

If you don't register and pay premium annually, you will never be a beneficiary. Is this a legacy a government should be boasting of? Typical example of legacy a government should boast of is Atuabo Gas Project constructed by Mills and Mahama. How many Ghanaians go to hospital free without being registered members of NHIS?

The Hohoe-Jasikan road built under Rawlings passed through the Akpafu-Bowli rice farms but the road is lower than the swampy farm. No change ever since. the road is waterlog.
