Why do we often take for granted the very things that deserve our gratitude the most? We do this with both people and possessions. The problem is many people do not realize this until the situation has come and passed. We take things for granted on a daily basis, always with the assumption that whenever we need something, it will be there.

There are many things we fail to realize the true value of until they are missing from our lives. Think of technology, the Internet,Quame Nkrumah of Ghana and your cell phone. You do not realize how vital your cell phone is to your life until you have to go days without it. Enjoy the little things in life because someday you will realize they were the big things.

My friend, your article tells me that you are not an ignorant person...you have read a lot and knows a lot...but do you know that China is a communist state and they are proud of it?...in 20 years time, China will surpass the US as the world's economic power if the rate at which they are progressing continues..China is now an economic power...we, Africans, now receive more aid from China than the capitalist countries, including the US...I think the best economic system for Africa, and Ghana in particular, should be one party state, mild dictatorship like late Houphouet Boigny of Ivory Coast...just like Nkrumah, he developed and built Ivory Coast...and they were all dictators!...I will like to add that western Democracy is not good for Africa if we want to develop

If Julius Caesar had travelled south, and not northwards to colonize Britain, Roman civilization would have come to Africa two millenia earlier and we would have the advantage and benefited from that experience, and not the British. Empires collapse unless all subjects become equal citizens. America and other ex-colonies took very long to put their new house in order. We shall develop.

Ghana had the same Gross Domestic Product (GDP) as South Korea. By February 24, 1966 when Nkrumah was overthrown, Ghana was on the brink of bankruptcy. The country has been saddled with debt ever since. How did we get to this abyss?
