I rather urge prof. Yankah to advice studnets to learn and score the minimum entry requirement, else, our university entry requirement will be like that of south africa where 30% is the minimum entry requirement which does not exist any where in the world.

  If you've been found in the jaws of D7 before you will not withdraw Prof Yankah's address to the media on Rethink of D7. D7 has caused plenty SHS Leavers to withdraw going to school and has shattered their dream of moving higher. I like your comment that "you disagree" but this must be certain.

  This is tantamount to encouraging students to under perform. We need students with better grades in our Universities to come out to be critical thinkers in society. This is the only way to develop the Nation. We always compare ourselves with Countries like Malaysia and Singapore. Do we think we can attain such heights if we accept mediocre performances in our School system? Let's stop the double standards for once!

  As a matter of fact you are trying to say that 'if one does not attend university and with good grade, that person cannot be analytical which is wrong. People with analytical mental acumen are BORN and not tuned at a higher institution.
  
  In a country like Germany the median of the work force have not attended any university at all - they did vocational courses, some of them will go further to do 'Meister'. If you go to a factory, the chances are tha there will be 2 engineers (from Uni) and 20 technicians ( from vocational colleges)
  
  Such a Meister is 250% more critical and analytical than Ghanaian who attended univeristy with 20 A's.
  
  I have worked with people from both countries and I know this to be true.
  
  In fact, to build the nation, we need more people with practice oriented education: vocational courses and technical courses. I would even suggest that for every profession (like carpentary, brick laying, electronics; name them) there MUST be 3 years vocational courses AFTER JSS.

It not necessary for simply churning out high university student numbers since the ones already qualified cannot even secure adequate employment!!. There is simply no jobs for them!!!

Instead of them to invest into technical institutions so we will get something do after school they rather disqualified us from entry.No wonder why arm robbery is increasing every now n then. Foolish leaders.they should learn from China.

  yh I agree with prof. coz if you seen a result slip of some students having a D7 grade in may be science, maths or English subjects respectively, it is considered a pass and its always written at the bottom part of the slip that the person has passed in six subject with the D7 been seen as pass. since we all know that EMS(English, Maths and Science) as we say it is what a student must pass b4 gaining admission into any tertiary institution. so automatically you qualify to be in sch coz D7 is a pass and not fail. and I believe we all understand what pass means. so why shd somebody get a pass and be selling along the street all in the name of he or she doesn't qualify to be in school bcos the person got D7. Govt plz rethink and consider as well......

  ACTUALLY A "D7" DOES NOT TOTALLY DISQUALIFY A STUDENT,YOU CAN SAIL THROUGH PROVIDED A CORE SUBJECT YOU WANT TO STUDY AT THE UNIVERSITY IS NOT HINGED ON THE COURSE IN WHICH YOU HAD THAT GRADE.

  I do wonder. if D7 is a fail, why should it be named as Pass. if GES knows it is not eligible to send one to school then it should just be named or generally regarded as a fail.
