These NPP surrogates want to over-turn Court orders by insisting that they would match to the Electoral Commission Premises to present a petition to the EC? The place to over-turn high court orders is the APPEAL COURT. If Nana Akufo Addo claims that he is a lawyer, then he should properly advise them. Time and time again the police administration has told us that the premises of the EC is a SECURITY ZONE and no demonstration or picketing can take place there. If it is a petition that they want to to present to the EC, why don't they send it by courier? GHANA SHOULD SHOW TO THE WHOLE WORLD THAT SHE IS A LAW ABIDING COUNTRY. We the descent and the law abiding people of Ghana want the POLICE ADMINISTRATION to ensure that laws of the country are preserved by dealing firmly with anyone who tests their powers and authority. The Electoral Commission has made it abundantly clear that anyone who has a proposal in connection with the VOTERS REGISTER should send them for study. The NPP, NDC, PNC and the other parties have complied by making presentations in written form to the EC, None of those mentioned above organised a demonstration before submitting the documents. Nobody and ABSOLUTELY nobody can force the hands of the EC to act in a way that, that party desires.
For the benefit of those who are not aware of this provision in the constitution I wish to end by quoting Article 46 of the 1992 constitution:
INDEPENDENCE OF THE COMMISSION
Except as provided in this constitution or in any other law not inconsistent with this constitution, in the performance of its functions, the Electoral Commission, SHALL NOT BE SUBJECT TO THE DIRECTION OR CONTROL OF ANY PERSON OR AUTHORITY (Caps mine). Any proposal to the EC shall remain a proposal. It is only the EC that has the prerogative bestowed on it by the constitution to act in a manner it seems fit.
