  This issue of conflict Gold is pure propaganda, there is nothing like that in the region they can talk of DRC but not in West Africa. I am a trader of Gold most gold sourced from Ghana is bought from Small scale mines which is scattered all over the country. No exporter will ever under declare their gold because the industry is very tight, If one underdeclares their Gold exports then they wont get the value of the gold exported and won't be paid the difference. All Gold exports are accompanied by strict paper work, customs must be vigilant with hand carried Gold not regular export which already has a tight regulatory standard.

  We have watched several governments struggle to stabilize the Cedi , and though there is an easy way of doing that our economic ministers have never thought about this. Let`s assume Ghana exports 100 tonnes of Gold every year, by keeping just 10 tonnes in our reserve to back up the Cedi . In other words in 10 years we`ll have 100 tonnes of Gold supporting our Cedi to make it .But unfortunately our people prefer printed paper (Money) to real worth which is Gold or Diamond which is more stable than paper money. I even wonder if we`ve even got a gold reserve , now if our governments continue this way further down the road then we`re of course doomed to fail . This is very sad to see a country with a population just about 22 million with all her resources to be struggling this way .

  Yes Ghana seems to find herself as the epi-centre for all current misgivings and illicit dealings in the world. Be it banned drugs, blood diamonds or illicit gold and Ghana's name gets mentioned and definitely connected. Where then do all these criminal connections take us to in field of global decency? We do accept, general speaking, that this country is run-down by our own incompetent government, but surely this is no excuse to disgrace ourselves in the face of global community by being at the lead of top criminal nations. Is it not about time we changed this bad name the nation has currently been tagged to the real Ghana we used to be? I suppose it would not be easy - not with NDC in charge.
