  The cities are messed up. Accra, for instance, is choked beyond any emergency lane because the space is not even there. Second, even if those emergency lanes were created, they will be occupied by the VVIPs of Ghana - ministers and their wives, girlfriends and children, policemen, soldiers, NDC cadres and loiterers, money vans. Have you ever traveled on the Accra-Tema motorway at 7:30 in the morning? There you notice the number of VVIPs that pass the police who are supposed to direct traffic. Ghana is fucked up.

  What MV Dodoo is saying is the norm everywhere because it is not feasible to give extra lane to emergency serveice.

  There is no doubt that the use of Emergency Medical Helicopter Services is an extremely efficacious means of providing ‘up front’ life saving support and subsequent rapid transportation to specialist hospital care facilities.
  
  In no way however can the cost of using helicopters be considered as being cheaper than ‘the use of vans’. What a nonsensical comment!
  
  As a bare minimum a helicopter mission would typically cost in the region of at least one hundred times more than the cost of using a ‘van’ for the same journey profile.
  
  Where on earth did Yiddana get this ridiculous idea from?

  Think outside the box. You have to embark on educating drivers and other road users on how to give way to sirens and lights. Use your money to do intelligent projects. Don't keep it.

  YES, THIS IS MUCH NEEDED - EMERGENCY LANES IN THE TRAFFIC DESIGNS OF THE CITIES. ITS TIME HAS COME. THIS WOULD FACILITATE THE EASY MOVEMENT OF EMERGENCY VEHICLES.
