Ghana is suffering because we have a foolish president. The man, jon Maaaama is a thief so I don't know why some idiots follow his foolish thoughts. The country has not paid it's debt to Nigeria Gas nor the carrier of gas to Ghana's chambers for distribution. They are threathening to cut off supply. Now the fool is telliing us we have to pay more for electricity so that more water could be bought and supply the Akosombo dam with the needed water to fill the banks of the Volta river. You see, I have always said when you have a fool as your leader, nothing goes well. jon Maaaama stole the elections, forcing himself to be predident on us so everything he touches is a course. He started with market fires. Then it came to absolute darkness in all parts of the country. Ever since Ghana competed in the world cup series, it was during Maaaama's time that we saw the most disgraceful performance by our football team coupled with the carriage of physical cash by an aircraft to go and pay our footballers, which was yet another disgrace on top of the poor performance. Everything jon Maaaaaama touches is a flop. This is so because his main intention of being president is to steal money and lord it over Ghanaians. Can you just immagine a whole judge who is supposed to exercise honesty in his delibration of justice, rather accepting bribes to let the criminal go free while the offended suffers? And it is just just one judge... We heard of 34 in both the high court and low courts in the country. All these happened because the head of the nation is himself a giver of bribe and a typical corrupt embecile. Jon Maaama is a thief.Jon Maaaama is a fool. JOn Maaaama is stupid. I need someone to prove me wrong.

Mahama and his NDC administration are responsible for the dumsor because of the massive corruption, over spending, reckless borrowing and overall economic mismanagement that have characterized the regime and brought untold hardship on Ghanaians. NDC could not frivolously spend $5bn of public money outside the budget in 2012 to buy the conscience of gullible voters, and expect everything to be normal in the subsequent years without any difficulties in our fragile economy. In fact, this why Ghanaians are wallowing in hunger and are being overtaxed.

This government believes that loans, charging more for services and products is the answer to our problems, my question is what about reduction on the expense side? There are cheaper alternatives to hydro power, have we pursued a more efficient way of producing power? Also we know that there are several folks and government organizations who don't pay for their utilities either because of illegal connections or government simply not having money to pay their bills.

Can we cut out some of the government freebies/expense to develop cheaper and more sustainable sources of electricity? We have a bloated government, let us think of quality/efficiency than quantity and waste.

Jesus told them another parable: “The kingdom of heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field. But while everyone was sleeping, his enemy came and sowed weeds among the wheat, and went away. When the wheat sprouted and formed heads, then the weeds also appeared.

“The owner’s servants came to him and said, ‘Sir, didn’t you sow good seed in your field? Where then did the weeds come from?’
“‘An enemy did this,’ he replied.
“The servants asked him, ‘Do you want us to go and pull them up?’
“‘No,’ he answered, ‘because while you are pulling the weeds, you may uproot the wheat with them. Let both grow together until the harvest. At that time I will tell the harvesters: First collect the weeds and tie them in bundles to be burned; then gather the wheat and bring it into my barn.’”

Jesus reply to his disciples was very simple. The owner of the farm did not tell his servants to relinquish the farm and cultivate a new one, neither did he tell them to go ahead to uproot the bad weeds from the soil. He however cautioned that this requires experts (Harvesters) to uproot the bad weeds from the good crop to avoid harvest loss.

The Farm is the whole of Ghana
The wheat is the real Ghanaian
The Weeds are the foreigner’s living in Ghana.

Everyone one has right on the same piece of land. However if we want to gather and act as Ghanaians it is our values, myths, festivals , language, clans and traditions that makes us who we are?
If we are going to select leaders for our nation and we don’t want foreigners to be part of It what do we do?

And the Question is who is a Ghanaian or a foreigner and how do we determine one?

Fellow Citizens think carefully through the lines else someone will throw dust into eyes and trade his financial losses for your profits

What can we compare this reckless Danquah/ Busia/ Dumbo generation? It will be well for them if they change their mind set and live a life of truth else it will be better for Sodom and Gomorrah than for them to push their ill will on the people. They have never in their lives said the truth nor demonstrated maturity. They always portray silliness, low self-esteemed and endemic mental slavery. What is so worrying is that they don’t mind destroying others because they want power. Attacking and distracting leaders without sound alternative is not only sickening but also portrays gross immaturity and emptiness.

What does it take to make a simple reasoning for this lady to realize that when the biggest consumers are not paying and she does not care because she cannot reason; the little that is paid by the poor cannot maintain the generation of the power. And you cannot continue to be increasing the tarrifs for thos e few who are paying leaving the bigger consumers to consume free (dead goat mentality) and be in a position to pay for the gas from Nigeria!!!!!. Now we are relying more and more on thermal power production which, of course, comes with more cost than hydro electric. Don't you know running on crude is more expensive than on water. Well, since the water levels in Akosombo and Bui Dams are so low what can we do to meet the increasing demand? The President is right. If we do not want 'Dumsor' we should be prepared to pay more. The issue should be about how ECG should justify the increment by replacing obsolete component,regular supply of crude and gas to give us steady supply. If you think power from the national grid is expensive try producing your own power from sources like generators etc. Please, let us be realistic. Power is not cheap even in advance countries. We must therefore, learn to conserve power as individuals to cut on our bills, thank you.

It's difficult to hear politicians talking about 'paying a fair rate' when there is a good percentage of power that is produced that is not paid for. The government is heavily indebted to ECG for non-payment. Think of all the schools, hospitals, barracks, etc, etc that do not pay their own bills. Add to this the illegal connections, the scams done with ECG staff for businesses to pay less on their bills and you have a situation where a lot of electricity does not get paid for.

Secondly, how much of ECG's revenue is made up of people that pay only 16p a kw hour?? I would suggest very very little. Businesses have to payu 1.02 ghana per kw hour. That's not a cheap rate. In developed countries, with similar resources as Ghana, the rates are much less.

So...please...don't tell me about paying a fair rate when the majority of power is not paid for in the first place.

(This is not an NDC thing....The same issue existed under the NPP government.)

I'm telling you this is simple matter. But because our engineers and all those in Ghana are stupid.

China solved this lack of water here. Beijing has no water bodies enough to serve the city dualers and what the clever authorities did was to divert water faraway from Beijing.
We can do it. We can divert water from different places with pipes to fill Akosombo dam. We can harvest rain to get it filled. In times of heavy rain, we can store it somewhere, then when Akosombo is lacking water we open it and fill it to capacity.

I bet you, if they give me the go ahead I'll solve it.
We can't sit down without thinking out of the box. We have to think.

Government has been warned to stay any plans to increase
utilities in the country, irrespective of the percentage.
General Secretary of the Progressive Peoples’ Party (PPP) Kofi
Asamoah Siaw told Joy News the atmosphere in the country
does not support plans by the utility providers – Ghana
Electricity Company, Ghana Grid Company, Volta River
Authority, and Ghana Water Company Limited – to increase
prices for their services.
The service providers are proposing to consumers to pay
over 100 percent tariff increment. They have been
embarking on a nationwide consultation forum to convince
Ghanaians to buy into their proposal.
But the PPP has rebuffed the Public Utilities Regulatory
Commission for what it describes as the open show of
support for the utility companies at the detriment of
consumers whose interest it must protect.
The party joins the CPP and the NPP who have also rejected
the proposed 100 percent tariff increase. On the contrary,
President Mahama has appealed to Ghanaians to agree to
pay realistic prices for the utilities.
The PURC is hoping the public will accept to pay more for
the services.
Kofi Asamoah Siaw said they will resist any attempt to
increase the tariffs.
“The people who make time to go to the conferences, the
public gathering, are not the people who will go on the
streets when they increase it.
“So if they will not listen and they want to go ahead and do
that, let them increase it and we will see what will happen…
the mood of the country is that of anger and rejection, so
why do you still want to ignore that,” he cautioned.
Kofi Asamoah Siaw was emphatic that Ghanaians can never
accept such an increase when the problem at hand is not
the doing of consumers.

My only problem now is since this dum'sor problem started we never receive less bill but always increase. can someone bet me that if NDC wins 2016 election ghanaians will start dying and killing each other for food just because of the rate of poverty and hunger in the country...

In a period where people's sources of revenue have all but evaporated, mostly due to the same 'Dumsor' that has denied them energy to support their productive efforts, you are asking them to pay more? With what money would the People meet those higher bills of Electricity?

Had your Officials done their due diligence, and chased after the culprits in illegal tapping into the Grid, and had the vision to anticipate such strenuous squeeze on the supply of energy, partly due to increased demand, we would have been in a better position to mitigate or even prevent the 'Dumsor' in the first place.

Meanwhile, instead of helping local entrepreneurs to invest and run alternative sources of Energy with, say, Government guaranteed soft loans, and other similar incentives, you sank hefty Funds into SADA and other poorly managed projects with little to no accountability culminating in massive corruption and failures.

We are yet to know what happened to all the money invested in SADA. The last time I checked, the Guinea Fowls that SADA claimed to have invested in all took a long vacation in Burkina Faso, and have just returned a few days ago.

I wonder what the birds lived on, or who took care of them, while in Burkina Faso, or who paid for their 'Hotel Bills' on that vacation. SADA might have, right?

Anyway, Ghanaians have almost had it with the gross lack of accountability by their Officials entrusted with all that are supposed to hold the country together as a viable, progressive modern Nation.

Mr. President, we don't care as much about your legacy you leave behind as what progress the Nation makes to ensure folks live in reasonable comfort and our posterity is guaranteed sustainable resources to enjoy a better life than we have.
