Our job was to see the elections were free and fair, with Britain funding a £10 million programme for photo-ID cards to reduce electoral fraud. The exercise eradicated one million fake names.
Another practical new weapon was indelible ink: when somebody voted, their thumb was painted to stop them casting more than one vote. India was the only source of a truly permanent ink that could not be washed or rubbed off. I had also persuaded the Foreign Office to provide experts from the Electoral Reform Society. Further valuable additions were two British MPs, Roger Gale and Nigel Jones."

The lady said elsewhere that IEA was not aware of the planned debate scheduled for next week? This is plain dishonesty as the plan has been in the public domain ever since EC requested political parties and other interest Groups to submit proposals on the controversy after which the DATE was set for All to assemble to defend their stand.

IEA as a civil society group should either have at best sought permission from EC to carry out that debate on its behalve or to submit its oun proposals just as any other civil organizations. Instead IEA rather arrogated to itself the right to organize a parallel programme, a duplication of what EC has planned for next week.

NDC is absolutely right to have BOYCOTTED that parallel programme organized on the blind side of the EC.

Why are they all acting as if they have never been to school or they are ignorant, a lawyer came out recently to educate the whole country about the EC position as an indepenent entity regurated by the law of the land and gazzeted therefore if the body or a group of people feeled he or she have enough evident to prove in court that the register is a bloated one can challenge the EC in a court of the land without fear either than that it is better the shut up.

If there are intellectuals wealth their salt in the IEA they should at the first point keep out of this discussion because NPP has already muddied that waters by accusing Ewhes and Gha-Adangbes of being aliens who criminally had their names in Ghana's voter register. I am of the view that things like this will continue so long as Ewhes and Gha-Adanges exercise restrain and do not go on the street to beat up people and destroy property. Perhaps Ewhes and Ghas also have unruly people like those in the Institute of Economic Affairs.
