Asantehene is de overlord of Asanetman which comprises of Ashanti; part of Brong Ahafo region with whole Ahafo under him and some other towns in Brong and part of Volta region, worawora to be precise. The point still remains: Ghana still owes the money and it will not be written off. Mahama is like a man who has the bailiffs after him. Nigeria has lots of high profile chiefs. I don't see them bringing them round. It is an embarrassment and I do not believe the Nigerians are impressed in the least. This is business and they will also be aware that Mahama has borrowed millions and has not used it for any tangible purpose. The best thing at his moment is for Otumfuo to advise him to use the money which he borrowed to pay for the gas for that purpose exactly.

When doing these kinds of negotiations, you go in with people who have figures and data showing how you intend to ameliorate the quantum. Anything else and the Nigerians won't see the relevance or the clout as you say. The will see a scam when they see one and the best thing is not to embroil the Paramount in this embarassing situation.

Otumfuo respect the Golden stool (Sika Dwa) and stop involving yourself in dirty politics, if you want to be a politician just leave the Golden Stool and stand for MP at Asawase, for somebody who will bring dignity and respect to the stool. You have put yourself too much into politics to the detriment of Ashantis, the fear and confidence most Ghanaians had on the stool is gone because of you. The most damning of it is you have no shame.

If Ghana is not disputing the gas debt to Nigeria, then what is there to mediate? Ghana should rid itself of the culture of not paying for goods and services she acquires in and outside Ghana. The country's credit rating is considerablely deteriorating because of a related culture of not living within our means which is mainly caused by massive corruption in the country. Since we cannot legally include amounts lost to corruption in our budget ( or should there be an innovative ways and means to include it?), this evil culture drains hugely on our national budget year after year. As a result, the country is unable to: pay salaries to some employees, pay contractors, pay suppliers, pay our debts, etc,etc. So, where the Asantehene can be most beneficial to Ghana is to instill in our leaders the CULTURE OF TAKING RESPONSIBILITY FOR OUR FINANCIAL DEALING AND PAYING OUR BILLS ON TIME. Of course this can only be possible if we can put an end to the CULTURE OF CORRUPTION in Ghana. Since Kumasi is the centre of culture in Ghana, the efforts of the Asantehene would be well placed if he advises on 'good' culture.
