The NPP Constitution and its basic rules and regulations were in place and binding on all its members before some were elected to executive positions. So, being an elected executive member doesn't mean that you can't be disciplined according to the party's basic laws.

For example, the president of Ghana is subject to the basic laws of Ghana, and if he flouted them, he could be impeached and removed from office even though he was elected by some Ghanaians. Moreover, President Nixon was removed from office because of the Watergate Scandal.

Mr. Afoko was said to have been invited many times to defend and exonerate himself from the serious allegations leveled against him. But he failed to do so clinging to technicalities that did not help his course or that of the party, and resulted in the application of the party's disciplinary rules against him. This is the Democracy and the rule of law that exists in the NPP party, which shows that nobody is above the law in the party.

How can a former Western Regional Chairman of the NPP say it was wrong to suspend Chairman Afoko without first adducing facts.

What made him think that the NEC was wrong? Come back and you will be met squarely.

Owusu-Ankoma is a fool who cannot reason or discern the truth. Can he tell Ghanaians he (Owusu-Ankoma) knows everything was working well under Afoko.

Did he not realise that under Afoko, everything stalled like "the day the earth stood still".

Owusu-Ankoma, with this idiotic opinion, cannot be accepted into the fold and no wonder he was dethroned as Regional Chairman.

Owusu-Ankoma can't argue constructively.

Now if Afoko was elected by thousand voters, and he is found to be conducting himself in a manner injurious to the fortunes of the party, do we have to wait and obtain the votes of the thousand voters before reprimanding him? Certainly no, immediate action is taken and that is what the NEC did. Again, is it likely that Afoko will convene a meeting do discuss his suspension? No, and that is why Freddie Blay called the meeting since Afoko will never ever call that meeting. So even though the NPP Constitution spells out that the Chairman shall call meetings when/if he is available, circumstances of the times were that Chairman Afoko would never have called that meeting. Let look at issues deeply a bit and we shall appreciate why Vice Chairman Freddie Blay had to convene the meeting.

In a last ditch attempt to find a way to get rid of Afoko as Chairman, Akufo-Addo contacted his fellow elephant rider in New York by the name Donald Trump. Akufo-Addo asked the Donald what he thinks he should do to have Afoko removed since Afoko is not only a pain in the butt in his campaign but even thinks he Akufo-Addo is a tramp. To which the Donald replied, "just stick Afoko with some trumped-up charges". Akufo-Addo did the flips and quickly had his cronies do just what Donald Trump had suggested, stick Afoko with some trumped-up charges. It was rumored that Akufo-Addo now wakes up every morning shouting, "Hey Afoko, you call me a tramp, and I have my cronies stick you with trumped-up charges".
