I think people are confusing a "NEW" register with an "UPDATED" register. A new register is a compilation of names of all voters in Ghana. It will not take cognizance of the existing one. There will be a house to house regist ...

I think people are confusing a "NEW" register with an "UPDATED" register. A new register is a compilation of names of all voters in Ghana. It will not take cognizance of the existing one. There will be a house to house registering as if it was never done before. An updated one is taking the current one and removing all the people who are not supposed to be on it, people who have passed on, minors and foreigners identified etc. and adding people who have come of age to vote since the last update. I think people are just calling for a new register not even knowing what it entails.

There is no guarantee that Ghanaian can ever have any register without a problem,the people don't have even a birth certificate,the only time they have birth certificate is when they are going to get a passport,just imagine people talking about social security in a country where only people in the formal sector have social security numbers and even that how difficult it will be for a so called foreigner to go get social security number if it is open to the public?

Our system is f**ked up,it will take us a long time to have a clean register,may be in the next century,even that it may still have some problems so long us we remain corrupt.

If foreigners can easily get our new designed passport how will they not be able to register in any system in Ghana?

The man did what he could do,I will not say he made a perfect presentation but he made a lot of good points as compare to the CPP guy who wanted to turn the forum to a Twi forum forgeting that not all Ghanaians speak Twi,the only good point he made was the national identifacation registry.
Saying people were brought in over a period of time in the quite in boats and buses in your constituency to register which you didn't say anything does not make sense,you have the same polling agents as other parties but claiming yours were intimidated,overwhelmed shows how naive is that General Secretary,there is a process to protest yet you said you chose not to do that,how then do you complain.
Now,what guarantee do you have that in compiling a new register the so called foreigners will not come to register again,how are you going to stop them and like Asiedu Nketia stated,how are you going to identify who is not a Ghanaian in a country where we don't have identification cards,not even birth certificates,in a country where majority get birth certificates only when they are adults going to get a passport,how many Ghanaians get birth certificates at birth?

For me this forum is not necessary,it is waste of resources,we don't need any new register,we can clean it up without a new one,we cannot be having a new register after every election,having a new register simply means some of us who have the chance to register the last time will be taken off the register since we cannot travel to Ghana to register.

Finally,watching this debate or whatever they call it shows our backwardness,the forum has show we are far,far behind the world,just imagine how many times those so called journalists keep walking in front of the speakers with some idiot keep taking pictures blocking the speaker.
Why we have to have journalists in the main Hall,why not find any adjoining room for them to sit instead of sitting them in the front row where participants should rather be seated,why should we let journalists sit there when the event is not a News Conference,can we at least for once join the civilized world to let these clueless journalists know that forums like this they do not have to sit in the front row while the participants sit behind them?
To see these journalists walking while people are speaking is disrespectfull and primitive,just pack them in the corner somewhere to get their news,or they sit on the floor as happens in the civilized world,they have no right to be walking in front of the speakers blocking the view of the audience and the viewers.

Asiedu Nketia was not perfect but he made the best presentation and gave accurate answers.

This was what someone said. "I will like you to ...." It was a put-off. I haven't heard that phrase in years.

Can't we get a little sophisticated? I mean refined. Abaaa! Don't get me wrong. Am not calling for any fake accent, like that of Gabby Ochere Darko or that of an arrogant, showy been-to, like that of Nana Akufo Addo. Far from that. I mean plain, good spoken english that is tasteful and delectable.

I have watched with keen interest how the speakers presented their arguments. Indeed there is a problem that all of us must admit irrespective of our political affiliations.

The massive problem here is the lack of decentralisation and the Ghana government approaches to pressing issues as well as inability to divulge powers to the district assemblies.

This has affected the operations of the institutions in Ghana and trivial issues such as what is being deliberated upon.

It does not make sense to sit in Accra and manage affairs in Tuobodom for example. Occasionally there could be an audit to ensure all projects are executed in accordance with specifications to either meet or exceed target.

There must also be clear policies laid up by the institutions; listen to the people and of course make recommendations in order to provide a better service.

In my opinion the forum is a complete waste of time and should not have even taken place. The EC in collaboration with the stakeholders should know the flaws in the system; instead of taking unnecessary sides.

More so, with the issue of identifying minors and foreigners, we must beat ourselves inn the face that our birth and death registration systems are not working. Hospitals and the again the district assemblies should be in a position to address this situation.
