The NDC tricksters are again trying to blindfold Ghanaians in order to rig the 2016 elections, knowing that they have failed miserably and Ghanaians want them out.

NDC has never accepted that the voters' register is bloated and corrupted. In fact, they claim that it is clean, credible and ready for use in the 2016 elections. The fact is, we can only deliberate on whether to change or clean the present voters' register when we all know and accept that there are problems with the register, and the magnitude of the problems will determine which of the options to choose. How can NDC advocate for cleaning the voter's register rather than changing it when it refuses to accept that it is tainted and corrupted?

The NDC/EC league should have investigated the corrupted and boated register allegations to make sure they exist before embarking on soliciting views on whether to go for a new voters' register or clean the present one. How do you clean something you don't believe exists in the first place?

Cleaning or changing the voters' register will depend on the magnitude of the problem as we stated earlier. Whereas the NPP believes the problem is huge and requires a new register, the NDC party denies existence of any problem in the register and yet advocates for cleaning it. So, what do they want to clean?

Ghana a country where political interest overrides National interest. Personally I feel this EC forum is needless, only seeks to discredit the EC in its quest to be independent and firm subjugate it's powers to the committee set up and also adding cost to the already burdened economy, why am I saying so?
There are two issues up for contention,
1. Proponents of a NEW VOTERS REGISTER
2. Schools of thought who believe cleaning the register is the way forward.

After this EC forum whatever decision taken by the EC would be seen as favoring one school of thought and biased towards the other which is the norm in our politicking so what's the point in having this forum? There are more questions than answers as usual;

Why has the EC pushed the burden of proof for the need for a new register or cleaning the old one on political parties and groups in the face of glaring evidence of a flawed register even as uncovered during election petition?

The decision of whether we need a new register or clean the old one should be made based on facts, evidence and chosen in the national interest but now it seems the group which would be able to debate well and asked trivial questions by panelist will win.

"IN A BATTLE BETWEEN TWO IDEAS, THE BEST ONE DOESN'T NECESSARILY WIN. NO, THE IDEA THAT WINS IS THE ONE WITH THE MOST FEARLESS HERETIC BEHIND IT." Seth Godin

Personally I think the EC is putting itself up for the public to lose confidence and trust in its ability to be firm, independent and act autonomously.

One would have wished that the electoral commission right after 2012 election petition would have instituted measures or embark on a move to make the register more credible but as usual as a government institution things were taken for granted, non seriousness, issues were downplayed in the face of supreme Court recommendations. We shouldn't have gotten here in the first place if the EC was more proactive.

Let us not be hypocrites and be frank to ourselves, wouldn't a decision for a new register be seen as favoring the NPP (win) over a decision for cleaning old one as biased towards the NDC (lose) and vice versa?
Can we frankly tell or convince ourself that it's the best decision that won?

My question now is, were your representatives not doing their work properly with regards to checking on minors registration? Better still, any person who was suspected to be under the age requisite was asked to prove his/her eligibility before he/she was registered.

Registers are cleanse every time prior to elections in every country. Cleaning the register is just as good as creating a new one. People who have attain a voting age get to register and dead names are removed. It is for the same argument raise by the NPP when they lost 2008 elections that the bio-metric registration system was introduced to prevent unqualified people from registering and voting. What system is the NPP proposing to used this time around if the bio-metric system could not solve the perceived problem. Merely compiling a register without a change in the registration system will not make any difference. For those who a shouting new register, new register must first tell us what is going to be done differently this time.
