This is insane. His punishment is to refund the money he stole!! That's why this country is riddled with corruption. He violated the law. He stole money. He gets to serve time for the theft and as a condition of probation after he's served his sentenced, be made to pay back the money he stole. He doesn't have to opt out of jail by simply returning money he stole. That's not how a criminal legal system should work, otherwise there'd be no deterrent from stealing. What if he invested the money he stole, made a load of profit off his investment? Are you saying he gets to keep the profit and return the stolen principal to the State without being punished for his crime. He breached a trust, he was entrusted to guard the funds. He stole the funds. What is it that Ghanaians do not understand about theft and corruption. The same goes for Judges who after getting caught red-handed, are being given a committee of inquiry to look into whether they should be prosecuted. What don't you understand about criminal acts. They were caught accepting bribes!!!
