SOURCE: myjoyonline.com------Executive Director of the National Anticorruption Action Plan (NACAP) says they would be compelled to go to court to demand accountability from government over its failure to retrieve monies wrongly paid to individuals in judgement debt.

Mrs. Linda Ofori Kwafo is baffled at government’s lackadaisical approach to pursuing beneficiaries of such monies.

The anticorruption campaigner was speaking on the Super Morning Show, Tuesday, December 9, 2014 in connection with the announcement by Deputy Attorney-General Dominic Ayine government that Gh?14.5million had been retrieved as part of the illegal money paid to contractors of the Ghana Youth Employment and Entrepreneurial Agency (GYEEDA).

President Mahama at a conference organized by NACAP on Monday, also disclosed that about 300 people have either been convicted or are facing trial for corruption-related offenses in Ghana since 2013.

“It is disheartening…We need a breakdown of the information they put across there,” Mrs. Ofori Kwafo retorted. According to her, “ the GYEEDA case is small”.

She recalled the “good cases” won in court by former Attorney-General Martin Amidu in which individuals and organisations that benefited from such wrongful payments were ordered by the Supreme Court to return the monies to the state.

The Supreme Court in June 14, 2013, ordered Waterville Holdings Ltd. to return to the state in excess of 21million Euros obtained illegally arising out of claims it brought against the state in 2009. A week after, the court again ordered businessman Alfred Woyome to refund a total of Gh?51.2 million judgement debt payment he received between 2009 and 2010.

The Court in another landmark judgment on July 29, 2014, ruled that Spanish-based Company, Isofoton pay back to the state a total of $325,472 and the interest accrued on the amount since 2011- the year in which the monies were paid.

“The amounts involved are huge…we need such monies to move our economies forward and government officials are silent on them,” the NACAP Executive Director questioned.

“Civil Society Organisations want to make the recovery of such monies…they should give us the detailed breakdown for us to know the progress that we are making.

“We cannot go and collect the monies; the state has a responsibility…we need the resources,” she demanded.

She hints the Civil Society Organisations will not hesitate to choose the option of “going to court and demanding for accountability so far us government’s responsibility in the fight against corruption is concerned”.

“We have also signed onto the United Nations Convention Against Corruption, which actually mandates us to be able to recover stolen assets that have been hidden outside this country. If within the borders of our own nation we cannot retrieve monies then how well would we able to retrieve [stolen state funds lodged] in Swiss banks and the rest?

“It’s no wonder, therefore, when citizens say that…they don’t actually have trust and confidence in government’s ability to fight corruption,” she told Kojo Yankson, host of the Show.

When i started writing the truth here all forumers can witness they threatened to arrest me or kill me but these fake cowards can even smell my shit . They are responsible for the bloated election registry and behind all the corruption but we warn them to refer to recent history and will notice that secret services and other clandestine organizations fell apart in the former USSR , Yugoslavia , Baas Iraq , Qaddafi and even Syria. They forget without the support and trust of the people they are nothing so they should continue driving around in their big cars spending our money foolishly as very soon we Akans shall put an end to their stupidity. They are slowly pushing us to a war and we shall be victorious as they can never be on our level. Its is clear to all now and confirmed by most international security agencies the Mahama and his mafia NDC will loose and never come back. Kuffour , Mahama , JJ , all have one thing in common they promoted Reaganomics ,Thatcher economics or trickle down philosophy economics which only is meant to make a few privileged rich and the rest live in poverty. We see there is a God and what the British did to us through Nkrumah by saddling us with the backward Muslim pepeni is now on their doorstep. First they will request for affirmative politics which means free education , preferred minority employment and it will end in these Muslims insisting on ruling over them and being presidents or ministers. Some Europeans see what will happen so are trying to set us up so again we receive these wicked people. These see that even third generation Muslims are sleepers we cause destruction and misery whenever they can . If you Big J, cannot understand and see that this President is the most incompetent leader we have had in this country, then it may appear that even he is more intelligent than you are. The man is destroying the country under your very eyes and you say you cannot see? What do you use your eyes and your brains for?

It is indeed sad that we have reached the point where we have to describe our own President in such derogatory terms but my friend, enough is enough and it must be said. The current President has lowered the respect and the prestige of the Presidency to such a shameful level that future Presidents will have a hard time justifying the respect that they will need from the people to manage and lead the country effectively.

Thats how bad it is and before some fool goes off on a tangent about my comments coming from an NPP sympathizer, I wish to let them know in advance that I dislike the NPP as much as I dislike the NDC. They have both failed this country big time.

It is strange for Mills who the day of his sudden death was suppose to travel to Nigeria for Mahama to become president. Mills had had only six months before elections.
