Discontent within sections of institutions of institution is not a new thing in Ghana.The Foreign Ministry to most of us is one of the prestigious institution to work in.In the past recruitment into the Foreign Service was very competitive but as time went on the recruitment has been hijacked and based on who you know basis even though on the surface everything seems to be fine. The resultant effect is that half baked officers are drafted into the service , especially the non- graduate posts .Some of these people think so long as you worked for some few years they have the right to be posted out to serve in missions abroad. To the best of my knowledge postings to missions abroad is not automatic, since competency , the grade and other factors are taken into consideration .Postings are also group based i.e. A1-A2, A3-A4,for the graduates ,B1-B2,B3-B4 for those in the Executive Class and C1-C2,C3-C4 for those in the Secretarial Class.Based on these groupings officers are posted out when vacancies occurred in the missions. The point is that you can work in the ministry for a number of yours and if you are not in any of the groupings you cannot be posted out, so I was told.I gathered from one of the retired officers that promotion in the ministry has not been fair these days. According to him officers recruited in 2002 even though seniors to some group they were lamped together for promotion to the FSOA1grade and this has been an issue which the Foreign Minister might not be aware of and even if she is aware , she was briefed wrongly by her advisors. The Hon. minister has to open her eyes and examine the grievances that are emerging and address the issues once and for all. An independent committee made up of competent Ghanaians from both political divide could be set up to address the issues including the promotion held two years ago into the FSOA1 grade.The Minister may also use the occasion to address issues relating to those who have acquired higher grades and wanted to convert to the branch A grade. Ghanaians are waiting to see your reaction , Hon.Minister.

Surely, It's very good that some officials at the Foreign Affairs in Ghana are complaining about the injustice meted out to them by their own collegues at the minstry.This issue however is providing us the opportunity to look further about the treatments and service the various Ghanaian Missions abroad are doing to their own people. In Germany the service provided to Ghanaian-German nationals applying visa to visit their family are treated like good for nothing people. A staff at the Ghana Embassy in Berlin, Mrs Donkor treats applicants as the late Dreck with insults.Saving the situation for the betterment of all the experienced staffers at the FA are to be given the chance.

I have always believed that while most Ghanaian diplomats are good, there have been a number who I think have joined the job through nepotism and hence do not have good work ethics because they feel that they owe their position more to powers than to the people of Ghana.

It is good that the staff are complaining perhaps their Minister and other senior officers there will be forced to sit up

Indeed, this ministry Is causing a massive loss to the nation.
They are complaining about postings...
we know the calibre of people we meet on the embassies... Honestly, there are more qualified Ghanains In the diaspora.
I would call on the Government to use our people In each country to Serve mother Ghana.

This is what I want both the senior and junior staffs should know. Because of your bribes you take from Ghana or Accra, that is why u refused to be posted or transferred. Passport issues: Processing a passport for a new one or renewal take a year, why? Some people that l know submitted their forms over a year still not receiving them, why? And you being paid every month. Do better stay and do your work.
