It would appear that those in control of the NDC, for the time being, were bent on excluding other bona fide members of the Party who may wish to lay democratic claims to who becomes the next flag bearer of the Party by excluding them even before the mortal remains of the demised President were interred. It is also symptomatic of how political party elites in Ghana and Africa worm their way into the confidences of persons perceived as likely to ascend to power positions for purposes of eventual personal economic gain at the expense of the generality of the mass of Party members and the Nation which every President swears to serve under the Constitution

Where are we going?

As far as I know, NMC is regulatory body for media practice in Ghana and has representatives from identifiable bodies and govt. So Pratt serving on NMC is not partisan at all. What a huge disappointment!

The CPP has got it all wrong in viewing Kwesi Pratt's nomination by the government on the NMC as a betrayal of their cause. The truth is that, the functions of the National Media Commission (NMC) have nothing to do with the government but all to do with the performance of the media both private and state. The NMC does not perform any functions for the NDC.
Looking at the other members of the NMC both past and present, it is not clear what makes Kwesi Pratt less- or un-qualified. Kwesi Pratt, with his rich experience in private media, is more than qualified to even chair the NMC. He could be nominated by other bodies represented on the NMC.
It is unfortunate for the CPP to consider the NMC as pro-government.

This is a stupid idea. Everyone reserves the right to take a National Appointment in a profession they think they could offer help to make it better, despite the fact that they may be from a different Party from the incumbent appointing Government.

Instead of the CPP attracting all kinds of folks to boost their numbers and voting core, they are towing this puerile, unnecessarily vindictive path to self-suffocation.

The CPP must acknowledge that it is the most unattractive Party in Ghana, now, in spite of all the heinous developments in the two main Parties, NDC and NPP.

The promotional outfit of the CPP needs to be revamped to reflect the needs and desire of the current generation of Electorates. It is sad that the Party still lingers in the antiquated, vindictive and divisive Politics of the 60s.

If any Party deserves the most, by historical record, to retake the reins of Government, it could be none other the CPP. But its current stagnation in old-time Politicking is what is keeping younger generations to join. I have elsewhere suggested over and over again that it would best for the Party to change its name but keep the core tenets of its principles minus the extreme Eastern Socialist
attributes to regain the trust and hope folks could repose in it for growth but to no avail.

Pragmatically, the Party's name alone is a doorstep turn-off to all the Youths who have been brainwashed to believe the CPP was a Communist enclave that always touted tyranny.

When Dr. Limann and company adopted a different name but similar policies of the CPP, his PNP engendered some benefit of doubt among newer and younger sections of the Electorate who decided to give the Party a try and helped it to win over the PFP and UNC and others.

There is a certain attraction to a newer Party with experienced elders from the old stock. Such a Party suggests to the Electorate that it has learned from the old ones and takes the wise counsel of the experienced Politicians among its membership. Ghanaians are not yet that adventurous to go with a totally new Party that hasn't got any experienced leaders in it. But at the same time, the same Citizens do not want to be associated with the errors of the past Parties who would like to be seen as just the same unchanged Parties.

This is a free counseling based upon wide expanse of examples globally.

When Kwaku Baako informed us about the atrocities of Kwesi Pratt during PNDC Regime, some of us did not believe until the truth was confirmed during the NRC. Kwesi Pratt is the most dangerous Journalist Ghana had ever have, he had the gut to recommend his fellow journalists to be executed by PNDC. Pratt even recommended Baako to be killed by the regime, thank God Baako was instead touchered violently and severely but his life was spared. This is what Kwesi Pratt can do. Now Pratt is a secret agent to NDC and US Embassy in Ghana. May God forgive Pratt and spare him the untold evils that will come upon him and his generations. The souls of those journalist killed through Pratt's recommendations to PNDC will never forgive Pratt. Now Pratt has the guts to take Diplomatic Passport and smuggled his weak-headed children to work at the Ministries under Mills NDC, may God forgive Pratt and his dependance and spare them of the evils ahead of them...
