Wake up call, for the authorities to act now and even breed some and release them back. I wonder what our universities are doing, a team has to come from England to make a research in your own back yard.

Have you seen smoked parrot meats and even live ones sold along the road in the ashanti region? they eat anything in the forest and sometimes themselves because some of them are so short and black and look like chimpanzees!

Agriculture has zero improvement under the NDC administration. Nothing better. We need to change our mind set and determine.

These birds have a natural habitat ie the place where they dwell, and no other place.
So if you observe them for a longer duration and they do not come to that place, or the number of those that return have decreased relative to a previous observation, then obviously their popluation have decreased : they are dead or moved to another habitat.
Rememeber : such a study take years, not days or weeks.

It is a very sad story to read about the decline in the population of the african grey parrot, the most intelligent, expensive, rare and most sought-after bird pet on earth,to me.The decline in their population,to me,is mainly attributable to deforestation, since this exotic bird thrive well mainly in dense forest cannopy and secondly due to pet trade. With the latter something could be done about it if the authorities can end the legal commercial trade and put it on endangered specie list. With deforestation ,i think nothing can be done about it since greedy timber merchants and companies have almost depleted our entire forest cover.Let's think about mother nature.

A burglar broke into a house one night. He shined his flashlight around, looking for valuables when a voice in the dark said,
“Jesus knows you’re here.”
He nearly jumped out of his skin, clicked his flashlight off, and froze.
When he heard nothing more, after a bit, he shook his head and continued.
Just as he pulled the stereo out so he could disconnect the wires, clear as a bell he heard:
“Jesus is watching you.”
Freaked out, he shined his light around frantically, looking for the source of the voice.
Finally, in the corner of the room, his flashlight beam came to rest on a parrot.
“Did you say that?” he hissed at the parrot.
“Yep,” the parrot confessed, then squawked, “I’m just trying to warn you that he is watching you.”
The burglar relaxed. “Warn me, huh? Who in the world are you?”
“Moses,” replied the bird.
“Moses?” the burglar laughed. “What kind of people would name a bird ‘Moses?’”
“The same kind of people who would name a Bull dog ‘Jesus.’”

I wonder why now.I was a kid when I heard that, African grey parrot was in high demand in the Western World. And their use to Smuggled gold in those days.Officials were aware of mass exportation of the bird and that, the grey parrot wss endangered at the time ,or face extinction. The fact is African gov't don't even care much about the welfare of the people they ruled, therefore the question of a bird in the forest,is remote and never dreamt of. to be contd.
